Mid-major conference team Wichita State beat Marquette, so there's one.

For all purposes I consider the American the low end of the Major conferences. That isn't a bad a loss at all. I'm talking about losses to teams that are in middle-of-the-pack or low-major conferences which hurts the collective Big East RPI once the conference seasons starts.

The Atlantic 10 is not a major conference, at least not this year. They have taken a huge hit

where I think it's been impressive for the Big East was vs the other top 7 conferences.... 7 conferences which in Lunardi's most recent bracketology have all but 1 at large Bid(and that's St Mary's, who is only the 3rd team in the tourney).

Record vs. Fellow Major 7
Big 12: 17-10 (.630)
ACC: 26-16 (.619)
Big East: 19-13 (.594)
American: 14-14 (.500)
SEC: 15-21 (.417)
Pac-12: 10-16 (.385)
Big Ten: 16-26 (.381)

what I think is interesting is the record for the top half of the conference- for Big East it's 12-3(using Providence as #5- helps BE out the most actually in this exercise). So many of the losses were by the bottom half of the conference...

Johnnies fall in LA to the Sun Devils. They have one more game against a F5 team when Duke comes to the Garden next month. Three more shots tomorrow.

Sat - December 9 - Wisconsin vs. Marquette
Nebraska vs. Creighton
Colorado vs. Xavier

ACC : 2-1
SEC : 3-2
B1G : 5-5
PAC : 4-3
B12 : 2-2

Overall 16-13

Go Big East!

Stever, nobody uses the term Major 7 other than you.

It’s clealry the Power 6, or Football 5+Big East, then everyone else.

Your beloved AAC was statistically closer to the Colonial, MAC, Missouri Valley and Mountain West last year than they were to the ACC, Big 12 or Big East.

Um, this isn't last year. Like it or not, but the AAC has picked up Wichita and that's made a huge difference. The AAC in the most recent bracketology by Lunardi has 4 teams in and none of them even are in Dayton.

Also, you keep on just saying the ACC, Big 12, or Big East. You act like that's the entire group.

I guess I have to repeat again for you Stever. Nobody uses the term Major 7.... other than you. It's defies logic that a Georgetown and Big East fan would be the only person that uses the term Major 7 to include a particular conference.

Again, the AAC was statistically closer to the Colonial, MAC, Missouri Valley, etc. than the top conferences like the ACC, Big East and Big 12.

And that was before Wichita joined. You keep on wanting to totally gloss over that.

You guys gotta stop hating the American and vice versa. Whether we like it or not the American is the bottom tier of the major conferences close to Pact-12. Instead of Major-7 I think the media has settled on the term Major conference. Nothing wrong with that. There are about 7-10 Major conferences on any given year. The Big East is top-3 every year. The American is mostly 6-9 every year. Just let it be and move on.

this stupid rivalry is freaking painful

Exactly. Couldn’t agree more.

No one here would be talking about the American at all if it weren’t for Stever.
