Curious your rationalization or justification for ESPN commentators publicly suggesting that UConn should go back to the Big East because it's such a great basketball conference. Particularly surprising given that the Big East is a FOX property and ESPNU/ESPNNews/ESPN2 show some AAC games throughout the season.

If the AAC was such a great basketball conference as you insist, I am not sure why ESPN would be suggesting this.

I am sure you have some very logical and reasonable explanation so very curious to hear!

St John's played at a C+ level tonight without Lovett and still won. The recipe for an upset was there tonight, but the main ingredient missing was Grand Canyon couldn't make anything.


Now, if we win Friday night are we ranked? Curious to hear anyone's thoughts

Yeah, another ugly win for SJU. GCU couldn't hit anything. A win is a win though, ASU is gonna probably be ugly though....Big East 5-0 tonight!

Very ugly but we play down to bad teams. We don't do well traveling far away either. But we won. 8-1. ASU is due to be upset. Let's give them our best shot. Very nice win by Butler, amazing W by Nova, and GREAT L by UConn! The AAC is dead in the water folks. Again.

St. John's has an RPI of 22 right now. Amazing job!

We didn't play well, especially towards the end, in large part due to LoVett's absence. He may be back Friday, though.

If we win Friday we absolutely should be ranked. That would be a top 20 resume, at least. If we lose, not a big deal. We need 2 more wins to get 10 OOC wins, and we'll be favorites in the Iona and St Joe's games, with another chance vs Duke.

The AAC has 6 teams with very realistic chances at making the tourney.

5/6 have quality OOC wins that will help them come March. Only SMU of the 6 has 3 losses right now. How exactly is that dead in the water?

And St John's really will need to get some wins in conference vs the big guys. If they lose to ASU and Duke- the best win is vs UCF. If the AAC is dead in the water, how does that help St John's?

And would say end of the year, it's very possible 3 of the Big East teams best OOC win will wind up AAC teams.

If we can somehow beat ASU, I would think that warrants top 25 ranking, not just votes. IMO a win against ASU is the icing on the cake assuming we take care of our other OOC games vs. Iona and St. Joe's. That would throw us right in the thick of Lunardi's early brackets. I'm realistic enough to realize we have a very good chance of losing this game, but at the same time I have some hope. I'm a big law of averages guy and ASU is undefeated and even Duke has a few games where they are ice cold. I'm hoping we catch them on an off day, looking ahead to Kansas, and that the law of averages come into play here. Remember, they weren't ranked to start the season...they are very good but they were not supposed to be unbeatable. Winning that game is what will catapult us into the national conversation and spotlight but a loss won't kill us assuming we take care against the others.
