I agree, getting 1 of 2 is imperative for an NCAA birth or else they will probably need at least 10 Big East wins or more. Obviously doable but the Big East will be tough.

huh? If they get swept in these 2, finish 10-3 OOC, and go 9-9 in conference play, they're 19-12 with a 42 RPI. That's not just in the tourney, but that's almost surely not even playing in Dayton.

The Big East should be strong enough that putting up a strong record 12-6 or greater will probably get you a seed at or better than 6.

That would hinge on what you've done OOC. SH with 12-6 conference record but 10-3 OOC probably doesn't get anything better than a 6(unless it's matched with a BET run).

I suppose. But they arent going to finish 12-6, so does that really matter?

The point is, you don't have to dominate OOC to still get a good seed.

Why do you assume that? They're probably the 3rd best team in the conference.

Disagree. If SH goes 12-6 in conference plus 10-3 OOC(so losing these next 2), they're 22-9. 22-9 for them is a 21 RPI. That's a 6 seed.

To get a top 4 seed with a 12-6 conference record- you really can only have 1 or 2 OOC losses. In the last 4 years, there's only been 6 teams with 1-4 seeds with double digit losses. 3 of those in 2015 and other 3 in 2016.

Last 4 years- average losses per seed:
1 3.82
2 5.69
3 7.13
4 8.13

You don't have to dominate it, but you can't have a mediocre OOC either to get a top 4 seed.

Is there enough of a seperation to assume they'll be able to get 4 road wins(assuming they'll be going 8-1 at home- which may be tough)?

Yep. Esp in a conf like the BE.

Let's say that SHU ends up losing to both TT and L'ville. OK, 3 non-conf losses against good competition. Now they go 13-5 in conference and beat Nova, X, CU and PC. They certainly have the talent to be near the top this year. I think 23-8 or something like 24-9 in a conference like the BE gets you a 5-6 easy. Knock them both off and go 12-6 and you are a 4 at worst IMO. That record would be eerily similar to what Butler did last year. Creighton had 9 conf losses last year and were still a 6 seed.

Also not sure why Edrick is hating on the Hall so much. They're 5-1. They looked better vs. Indiana than Duke did last night. Not saying they are better than Duke but that they have the talent to beat anyone on any given night.
Go Nova!
