Brad Stevens leaving Butler for Celtics

No need for SLU at this point.

Nothing against them, but the conference had to get to 10, and it has. I'd have been ok if it was SLU over Creighton. But we have our 10. Unless we get UConn, or unless FOX needs us (and pays us) to expand, 10 is the number.

I know how badly you want to join our conference, but posting more than everyone else on this message board is not going to do anything help your cause.

Once Xavier joined the BE, I was hoping to get away from reading the complete and utter dross that can be found on our previous conference's board. Hopefully he'll go away once the season starts and post on a board that is actually relevant to his school.

Relax dude, if the conference expands, you'll likely be in. I just don't understand why you spend so much time here.

Just a Xavier fan being a Xavier fan. No one understands basketball quite like they do.

He's right BillsEsq, he roots for X. We should wallow away in the shadow of his amazing glory.

As far as I know there are three SLU fans that post here regularly Billwin, Dump, and myself. I know of no posts from anyone who presents themselves as a SLU fan who said that the BE now has to expand.

The only person who has posted anything about the BE needing to expand due to Stevens leaving was Bewannabe. BEwannabe is a troll and has never been connected in anyway with SLU fans. If you go back through and read the thread you'll see that he is the only person who said such nonsense. Unfortunately somehow someone confused my posts with his posts and this turned into a SLU fan said thing.

NO SLU FAN HAS SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE BE NOW NEEDS TO EXPAND. Go to their site outside of a few trolls the BE expansion concept is a non-starter. Jesus, sure SLU would love to be in the BE with 3 million a year but no one is delusional enough to think that just because Stevens left the league will simply expand.

Well, DF thinks the BE is never expanding...so he doesn't count for sure. I'm thinking more on the lines of "just tell me who we're playing and where".

We talked to David Woods of the Indianapolis Star on Bluejay Banter Monday. Talked about Stevens, Miller, Butler, the Big East, etc. The conversation with Woods starts at about the 40 min. mark.

Just a little background, we're a radio show on the ESPN affiliate in Omaha that airs every Monday night and after Creighton basketball games. In the past, we've started a Missouri Valley Conference preview in late summer -- do one team a week and usually have a coach or writer on from that team to help us break it down. I imagine we'll be doing a similar thing for the Big East, so we'll keep everyone posted on related guests. We're also on Facebook, Twitter, iTunes if you're interested.

I'm pretty sure the reports were that if the league expanded to 12, Fox would throw in another $100 million - keeping all teams at the same financial level. Expanding does not mean teams would get get less money - that's the deal for all the major leagues.

Is this what we can come to expect now? Anytime a single BE school has any sort of bad news (and every school has bad news from time to time) that the usual suspects (BillEsq and others) will run right over here and somehow claim that the league must expand as a result?

Just stop it. We get that you want your respective teams in. That's nice. But frankly, I almost feel myself wanting SLU less and less with every "you need to add us now" post that I read.

E) To your point of "making deep runs" SLU has and it will continue to. The weakened A10 will make a perfect launching pad for the new BE after our back-to-back conference championships and undefeated title run which will place the 13-14 squad in basketball lore. This post was pure fan madness. Something you need to put up with on message boards.

Excuse me, but what are these deep runs you speak of?

Assuming the worst and Butler suffers the league just takes an RPI hit and moves on. As far as TV exposure getting better coaches... just ask Seton Hall, DePaul, heck UCLA how that has worked out, there are no guarantees with coaches.

BEWannabe implicitly made the suggestion then became conspicuously absent when asked to define what would qualify the Big East as a failure. In other words, BEWannabe be trolling.

Conspicuously absent? Well if an extended holiday in the Caribbean is conspicuous then find me guilty. Please point out to me where I say the league isn't viable, rather I simply point out losing Stevens is a blow to both Butler, nBe and FOx.

Same challenge to you, BillEsq,.please connect the dots whereby I make the connection to NBE expansion and Stevens departure.
