CINCINNATI – Xavier men's basketball announced an impressive 2017 recruiting class, which is the highest-ranked in school history. The five-member group is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation by Scout.com and 247sports.com, as well as No. 6 by ESPN.com and Rivals.com.
THE CLASS
Elias Harden, a 6-5 guard from Pebblebrook High School in Mableton, Ga.
Kentrevious Jones, a 6-10 center from Westside High School in Macon, Ga.
Naji Marshall, a 6-6 forward from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va.
Jared Ridder, a 6-7 forward from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Mo.
Paul Scruggs, a 6-3 guard from Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif.
NEW YORK -- The BIG EAST Conference hosted its third annual Freshmen Fundamentals program, which is designed to assist men's basketball student-athletes make the transition from high school to college and the elite level of BIG EAST basketball this past weekend in New York City.
All four of Xavier's freshmen participated in the weekend, including Elias Harden, Naji Marshall, Jared Ridder, and Paul Scruggs.
CINCINNATI -- Jared Ridder’s tenure with Xavier’s basketball program has ended. The 6-foot-7 freshman forward from Springfield, Missouri, announced Friday on Twitter that he is leaving the Musketeers’ program following many conversations with his family and coaches.
The Musketeers’ nationally ranked recruiting class started with five players and is now down to three: Paul Scruggs, Naji Marshall, and Elias Harden.
Kentrevious Jones committed to Xavier but has not arrived on campus [and is not listed on Xavier's Official Roster].
Ridder, Scruggs, Marshall, and Harden recently spent a weekend in New York City for the Big East’s Freshmen Fundamentals initiative, which was designed to help rookies transition to the demands of college academics and athletics.
