You can't be so naïve as to believe that though right? There are better research universities all up and down the Atlantic coast who have lesser programs. Wichita was invited because of basketball and that's all.

Anyway, a majority of schools in the Big East are not heavy research institutions. Instead, they are universities which emphasize undergraduate education and growth by professors actually teaching (instead of focusing on research) and promoting activities outside of the classroom. The Villanova ones stick out in my mind, but all of the institutional spots I saw during the season emphasized sense of community, service, and well rounded individuals.
I picked grad school for research activities, not undergrad.
