Georgetown has employed the search firm Korn Ferry in order to assist in the search.

It’s possible that using a search firm was a demand from Nike, which could have requested this independent party get involved in order to assuage its own Board (on which John Thompson, Jr. sits and is the longest-tenured Director) if and when it discusses its contract with Georgetown moving forward.

As to the candidates: If it’s true that Shaka Smart and Mike Brey said "thanks but no thanks", the logical next call would be to Danny Hurley.

April 3rd Update: “No thanks” from Dan Hurley, Ed Cooley, and Chris Mack. No apparent interest in Tom Crean from Georgetown or John Thompson Jr.

A separate source said that Ewing would be the choice of John Thompson Jr.

Either Patrick Ewing will be named as Georgetown’s next head coach, or John Thompson Jr. should have kept his mouth shut in the presence of reporters.

yea this coaching search seems 'lazy' if all they're doing is going thru the usual suspects that even casual fans can come up with. I hope they're more in-depth than that and are looking at candidates that aren't even being mentioned here.

If Patrick Ewing's interview goes well today, I suspect that it will be the last interview for the Georgetown job (assuming the offer is sufficiently generous).

If a new name surfaces after today, it will likely be because Ewing and Georgetown could not agree on the salary, incentives, and/or contract duration.

The search committee has been silent from what i can tell. We've gotten some information from the other end, not sure if reliable.

Also, read on a Hoya board where someone brought up James Jones of Yale, who beat Baylor and almost Duke last year in the NCAA's at the Dunk. Yale has been solid for a while now.

So the list of names seems to be:

- Randy Bennett, St Mary's Gaels.

It has a point but then gets stupid. "Ask St. John's how Chris Mullin is faring?"

He's doing pretty good! He took over an empty cupboard and has the program moving in the right direction with a bunch of talented young kids. Going into next year with one of the most dynamic back courts in the country and a fan base reenergized!

To be fair, the guy who wrote it is a Syracuse grad. Looks like it's going to be Ewing, which I think could either be really good for the program or another really painful break-up if things go south.
