Maybe he's operating under the thought that every conference is mid-major unless it's a BCS conference. Either that or the only high major conferences are the Big 10 and the ACC.

Here's how the conferences will stack up in men's basketball, in my opinion:

1. Big Ten
2. ACC
3. Big East
4. Big 12
--
5. SEC
6. AAC
7. Pac-12
8. Mountain West
9. Atlantic 10
--
10. Missouri Valley
11. West Coast
12. Conference USA
13. Horizon

I think I'd flip the Missouri Valley and West Cost Conference, but otherwise I think I agree.... I can't say for certain though as I honestly have no idea who is in CUSA anymore.

I hesitated with the MVC and WCC, but ultimately gave the Valley the edge because they have five teams that have averaged a top 100 RPI over the past four seasons while the WCC only has three. If the WCC didn't have Pepperdine dragging everything down then it'd be a different story.

The MVC just lost its best member though ;)

Mid-Major is the most insulting label the media can put on a league.

The Dumpster Fire, MWC, and other non-football leagues are considered that because of a sport that isn't even in play in the Big East.

They should call anything without football Division 2. That would be far less insulting than mid-major.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

Mid-major is a pretty nasty insult.

The Big East is certainly not a mid-major league.

This new league is getting a nice pay raise. We are getting more money for basketball only than some conferences (AAC, Mountain West) get for football/basketball. We are getting paid more than when we were in a league with Louisville, Syracuse and UConn. If someone wants to call this league mid major because it doesn't play big time football, who cares?

In regards to basketball, our goal should be to be better than the SEC, BIG 12 and PAC 12. As far as the ACC goes, Boeheim, Williams, Pitino and Coach K are all in their sixties and will all be retired in the next 5-7 years. Syracuse will be going from a Hall of Fame coach with 900 wins to a Non Hall of Fame coach with zero wins. Their record on the hardcourt will adjust accordingly.

BEwannabe, what are you still doing here?

so kids aren't going to be interested in playing in the ACC for Syracuse, UNC, L'ville or Duke because a coach retires?
