URI plays defense with continual hand-checking. Like on par with Pitino-Louisville. I think the way the refs have called the first 2 days of NCAA games favors Creighton. Also, the Jays' strength and muscle will allow them to play through it if the zebras aren't calling anything.
CU has 5 great scorers and ball-handlers on the floor at any given time. To me, everything points to a solid Creighton win. Just need to come out loose, confident and stay aggressive.
I mean, URI is a good team, but Hurley is scatterbrained half the time, wastes time working the refs, walking on the court, talking non-stop... I guess that stuff maybe works with 7th graders, but not vs a Big East team.
Anyway, I see that URI is the sexy pick, and I can't understand this. It's a simple reaction by people who couldn't name 2 players on either team to say "Creighton lost its PG. URI has won 8 straight. I'm picking URI"... doesn't work that way. Xavier proved that last night by rolling Maryland.
Probability wise, I think Creighton wins by 10+. URI fans at my office on Monday will complain about the refs calling too many fouls on the Rams and that the Big East team was given every break. Other things to look for... when URI realizes the game is slipping away, one of their players will fake an injury, delay the game, and be used by Rams fans as an excuse for their loss. Red Sox fans mentality pre-2004. I got my balls busted by them all day yesterday. Good luck Jays.
