Well hats off to the champs, great teams finish games while mediocre teams flame out late in the second half (the story of the Jays the last 3 seasons in reality). The Jays are dangerously teetering on a dream season turning into nightmare at this point... Coach Mac has been able to find no answer at PG over the last 9-10 games, and putting in a lineup in consisting of Zierden, Clement and Hegner against a powerhouse team like Villanova is basically waving a white flag. Mac needs to leave Davion Mintz in a little bit more in close games and give him the chance to develop, as there is no hope for the offense (and defense for that matter) when Clement or Z are running the point.
There have been questions over the last few seasons about how good of a coach McDermott really is minus his son, and this season is once again exposing him for not being quite as good as advertised. Watson covered up a bunch of this team's flaws, and lately other teams have been exposing them.
That being said I really didn't think the Jays would win today in Philly and on Senior Day, however the team looked like it gave up during the last couple of minutes, and it seems like the trials and tribulations of the last couple of weeks are really starting to wear on this team. The Jays need to step it up and at least split the next two games (vs. St. John's and at Marquette). Losing both of these games could push the Jays to the 6/7 spot in the standings, and an early exit in New York could drop this team to the play-in game... this season has just been painful to watch since Mo went down... it's tough to take.
Life goes on though, and still a Jays fan through and through.
