Cal lost at Stanford tonight. They're in a lot of brackets pretty safely, but the resume is not too impressive with only 1 win vs. top 50.

Akron lost at home to Kent State, probably removing any chance of MAC stealing an at-large bid.

Virginia suffered their 4th loss in in a row tonight to Miami, their 5th loss in their last 6 games. They are 2-6 in their last 8 games and have now fallen behind all 4 the BE's "big 4" in the RPI rankings. They are looking more and more like a 6 seed.

Clemson with a big loss at Virginia Tech by 1. Clemson now with an RPI of 61 and a conf record of 4-11.
Georgia Tech with a big loss at home to NC State by 2. The Yellow Jackets now have an RPI of 88.

Clemson is 4-10 vs the RPI Top-50 but 1-10 vs the Top-40 (won at #30 South Carolina).
Georgia Tech (my wife's alma mater) has some good wins but a poor OOC SOS of 236. Big wins at home vs UNC and Florida State, and a good road at VCU... but no other significant road wins.

I think the ACC will get 8 bids:
UNC-Cheat.
Duke
Louisville Strippers
Florida State
Notre Dame
Virginia
Miami of Fla
Virginia Tech (though OOC SOS at 291, they'll throw Buzz a bone)

Syracuse has no impressive road wins.
Clemson and Pitt can't go 7-11 and get a bid.
Georgia Tech RPI of 88 is too high.
Wake beat Miami of Fla at home, but no good road wins, and best OOC wins are only Bucknell, Charleston and Richmond.

I couldn't believe it, but ESPN guys were completely trashing Indiana. If they weren't finished already, Indiana is likely done for good after the loss tonight.

It's been good the past few days for BE's bubble teams. Big day tomorrow.

If Pitt got to 7-11, they would be a total lock- they would be 18-13 with a 41 RPI. They would have won 3 of 4 @ Wake Forest, UNC, @ Ga Tech, and @ Virginia. That's lock city there- and frankly probably not even in the FF.

It's pretty close to impossible for them not to get 8 now...
UNC, Louisville, Duke, Florida St, Notre Dame, Virginia are locks right now. Miami is pretty darn close to a lock as well. Va Tech is pretty close to a lock as well, as long as they beat BC this weekend.

Also, depending on the breakdown, it's no guarantee these teams would get an additional loss in the first round. Some of those teams will be playing on Wednesday in the 1st round. 11th place team will be playing NC State who is still in the top 100, so that would be a meaningful win for them.

It's going to be a tough call for the committee. Duke, Virginia, and Florida State are obviously big wins, but they're going to have to look past a home court shellacking by St John's and a sub-200 loss to BC as well as an RPI that's likely to be in the 70's.

I like how ESPN describes the Syracuse home win over Duke as the biggest win of the night. Providence winning @ Creighton is arguably just as big if you ask me!
