Does that Powell kid normally hit from behind the arc like that!

Geez.

I can't comment about Willard, but SHU is a good basketball team.

so with tonight over.....
top 4 teams losses to 4 bubble teams- 4 of them
Nova @ Marquette
Butler vs Georgetown
Creighton vs Marquette
Creighton @ Georgetown

2 teams that had no shot for at large- wins vs 4 bubble teams-3
DePaul vs Providence
St John's @ Providence
St Johns vs Marquette

so the bubble teams haven't gotten much at all from the top 4 teams, but have given up games to the teams that were out....

in another way of looking....
Marquette- 2 wins vs top 4 team(2-2), 2-2 vs bubble 4 teams, 1-1 vs bottom 2 teams
Georgetown- 2 wins vs top 4 teams(2-3), 0-3 vs bubble 4 teams, 2-0 vs bottom 2 teams
Seton Hall- 0 wins vs top 4 teams(0-4), 1-2 vs bubble 4 teams, 2-0 vs bottom 2 teams
Providence- 0 wins vs top 4 teams(0-5), 4-0 vs bubble 4 teams, 0-2 vs bottom 2 teams

you can't make up the Providence line now can you? it's a line perfect for killing bids for the conference.

Powell was billed as arguably the best 3pt shooting freshman in the country. He's shown flashes, but has been inconsistent largely because of poor shot selection. Today was easily his best game. He still took some highly questionable shots, but clearly they were falling for him tonight.

As for the last part... good teams aren't 9th in a 10 team league.

Don't let that number fool you. It's low because he takes a lot of bad shots, but when his feet are set, he's money. I hadn't seen anyone else give him nearly as much space as Xavier did tonight.

Now if only Carrington, who was a 50% 3 point shooter in non-conference play, could get anything to fall...

Terrible, inexcusable loss? Even with Sumner gone, Xavier is still probably the better team and they were playing on their home court. I get that you were hoping for Seton Hall to take advantage of the turmoil at Xavier, but that was never guaranteed to be an issue. Mentally, Xavier was highly focused and playing with the same brand of toughness they have displayed in almost every game this season. The transition to Goodin as starting point guard was also made easier by the fact that he's highly talented and he had started to play very well recently.

Butler says, "hello."

If our defense comes close to our offense, watch out. This team reminds me of the Seton Hall team with all that young talent that no one wanted to play a few yrs back.

That's what I've been telling you. I'm glad to see that you're beginning to enjoy his stage in their development.

Yes, undoubtedly. Unless you're playing a team that is far more talented, like Villanova, losing any game in which you have a significant advantage in prep time is inexcusable. In this case that was 6 days to 2. I wasn't hoping for any sort of turmoil, Seton Hall shouldn't need that to beat Xavier. However Xavier's sudden lack of point guard depth should have made an already winnable game even more winnable. It's just terrible coaching.

There isn't a more negative dude on this board and frankly I don't know anyone in my real life either who is such a energy vampire. I was having a conversation yesterday about Marquette. While they aren't great, when the committee starts looking at resumes, Wojo has wins over Creighton and Nova. Those two wins alone are going to be better than almost every other bubble team. If they can go .500 or so from here, I think they dance.
