That's my coach P. It hurt so much to see him go from Stony Brook (my alma mater). Still hoping that Seton Hall wins.

Rutgers will be coming in confident and feeling like they have something to prove, so Seton Hall can't take them lightly. Rutgers is certainly better than the past couple years, but they're still not a good team. The Pirates need to be ready to play or they risk a resume destroying loss.

Unfortunately, there's this albatross around BC's neck. It's called P5 football, and even though football is a money loser for them, their alums and their administration just can't admit that and do the smart thing! So screw 'em (but, oh boy, would the Boston market ever be a winner for us!) Hey -- here's a better idea -- no BEAST expansion at all!

Oh man, if we could add BC, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Saint Louis! Big East = Private school conference! I'd love it!

Yes, i'm aware that will never EVER happen. But MAN wouldn't it be great?!

Totally agree with everything about BC. On the Providence board, they're known as Fredo.
Would have been a perfect fit for the conference.
But that stupid D1 football addiction. Doug Floutie giveth and Doug Floutie taketh away. (And I say that as big Doug Flutie admirer).

One difference of opinion on BC though: Boston is a pro sports town (and to a much lesser degree college hockey town). Never been a great supporter of college hoops. Even when BC was really good. At the moment Boston is a college basketball morgue. As FriarJ said, BC fans will be out numbered by as much as 10 to one in their own building tomorrow. Think about that for a minute...

A loss to BC by PC would kill the season. PC for many years tends to make close games out of inferior opponents, even losing some. This will be the final test that this is different, So far it's been smooth sailing. I suspect it's because of the defense being so vastly improved.

One thing is almost a lock. PC will have more fans at the game even though the game is on BC's campus. Pathetic.

I don't know what you're looking at but Rutgers current SOS is #295. There are 351 teams in D1 so not next to last in SOS.

Only stever would defend Rutgers' #295 SOS :D let's remember they lost the only game vs. a team with a pulse. I'd rather be battle-tested early with an 8-3 record than untested at 10-1 only beating cupcakes. I expect Seton Hall to dispose of them. BC is such a pretender. Schools like BC and Wake Forest are so out of place in the ACC. They play FCS level football in the same conference as Clemson and FSU. The money is nice but they will never compete seriously.

That's their RPI SOS. Their Kenpom NCSOS is in fact 350.

and looking Sagarin has them 350 as well. Can I get some Mayo for my crow?

Still, don't understand why more teams that are rebuilding don't schedule like this?

2 Big East games of Friday Dec 23rd:

Providence at Boston College, 4pm.
Rutgers at Seton Hall, 6:30pm.

Former Big East members are matched up in 2 games. BC just lost to Fairfield, adding to their other sucky losses to Harvard and Hartford. Rutgers is much improved under Steve Pikiell.

These are both winnable games, so an opportunity to improve our non-conf record vs the Football-5.

With last night's win, St John's past Rutgers in the Sagarin rankings. So, yes. Rutgers is I,proved, being in the top 100, but they still aren't as good as one of the 2 schools at the bottom of the Big East. :P

Rutgers has loaded up on cupcakes and cream puffs (a few of those games have even been too be close for comfort). Their only "true" test was a loss to Miami. Some Rutgers clown has been going around passive-trolling St. John's, Georgetown, and UConn fans on the SBNation's site. He's talking as if Rutgers has been some kind of hoops juggernaut. I'm not particularly a fan of Seton Hall, but I hope they spank Rutgers tonight.

Rutgers could be improved under Pikiell, but we won't know for certain until they show it against decent competition. Their time chomping down on cupcakes and cream puffs ends tonight. I bet they lose tonight, which will start their descension the rest of the season, as they start conference play on Tuesday against Wisconsin.
