Well, we are getting a preview of what the Johnnies' conference season will look like...against the bottom half of the Big East.

As a completely unrelated aside, 9-team conferences are cool too. Right?

F off. Us SJU fans are pissed off enough already.

SJU actually puts in the money and resources to compete. Actually think we spend more on basketball than any other Big East program (possibly due to the MSG lease)?

I was a big fan of the Mullin hire but don't think he's the answer. Obviously a very tough situation because you can't fire him, but something is wrong with the coaching. This team has way too much talent to lose like this.

Very depressing. Love rooting for this conference, watched every game yesterday, but shameful how bad SJU is.

Well this game is a battle of which very young, dumb, talented team can make the most brain dead decisions.

Live by the 3, die by the 3. Without LoVett scoring as he returns from injury, the St John's offense isn't producing. And they can't guard a chair, so if they can't stop PSU, they have to keep up with them - which isn't happening today.

There will be nights when the 3's are falling that they'll be blowing people out.

You're ignoring the fact that a lot of that talent wouldn't be there without Mullin at the helm. There's more to coaching in college than X's and O's.

And you may be ignoring the fact that another coach could have brought in different players and been more successful in games. Mullin and staff comes across as clueless on the sideline and during timeouts. That is not a good look going forward combined with the losses. Kids today don't know Larry Bird, so they sure as hell don't know Chris Mullin.

Remember last season when some of the St. John's fans were saying just wait until next year when they get their revenge

Yes, I am ignoring what another coach might have done with recruiting. They might have or they might not have. But we know that Mullin has in fact brought in good talent, which is the most important thing that a coach can do to produce a winner.

Regardless of what kids know about Mullin, their coaches know him and their parents know him. That matters. The biggest thing that a St John's coach has to do is to build a network of connections among the NYC high school and AAU coaches. It's what his several predecessors were unable to do. Not only will Mullin's name and reputation enable him to do that, but he's also hired the right assistants to get that job done.
