A "must see" game this weekend is West Virginia @ Virginia. It should be a classic. The 2 teams are 1-2 in the country in scoring margin, but they get there in completely opposite ways. This should be the proverbial game between a rock and a hard place. Virginia is undefeated and West Virginia has 1 loss vs Temple.

West Virginia averages 95 ppg and has already gone over 100 three times this year. They lead the nation in forced turnovers (27.3 tpg) with a high of 40! They forced 24 in blowing out Illinois.

Virginia gives up only 41 ppg and turns the ball over only 8.5 times per game, 2nd fewest in the nation, with a low of 5 in blowing out Iowa.

On paper, the 2 teams are evenly matched with home court advantage to UVA. If this were tournament time, I'd be picking Virginia, but the strange dynamics involved make me think that this could be a big night for West Virginia. If they can get an early lead and force Virginia to play from behind, it's their game to lose. At this time of year, I think the Mountaineers can do that.

OTOH, Bennet must be concerned in the locker room that hits team has already turned the ball over 8 times, as many as they normally do in an entire game. In addition, the Mountaineers are winning the offensive glass and getting extra shots. Either team is hitting their 3's.

If West Vorginia's pressure can wear down UVA, this could be their game. Whoever starts hitting 3's, however, could change the game completely. Two great coaches, so we'll see what half time adjustments they make.

UCF on the other hand beat UMass. UCF now #15 in the RPI. Great for Nova- not so great for PC.

What a game! The Cavaliers made their 3's in the 2nd half but they didn't make their FTs. WVU didn't make their 3's until the big one late that put it away. In the end their pressure right from the start of the 2nd half and their rebounding won the day.

GW wound up bouncing back and won by 1.

But the A10 really struggling. They have 1 team with only 1 loss. Their winning percentage right now is only .592 as a conference- 10th best. Going to make it where conference play won't mean as much as it has in years past.

UConn upset Syracuse tonight...
For BE purposes-
UConn- only BE opponent is Georgetown
Syracuse- Georgetown and St John's

Syracuse may be in a bit of trouble. IF Georgetown can upset them in Syracuse, They would go into conference play at 9-4. With a tough conference schedule. Would need at least 9 conference wins, if not 10.

For UConn, if they can upset Ohio St on Saturday, They could go into conference play with only 4 losses as well. 6-4 (remember the Chaminade game doesn't count- and they play Georgetown in January). Looking at their schedule, they only have 1 game with Tulane as a sub .500 game.
