Having clarified - IMO Yes, Yes, and Yes.
The Jays still have much to prove as respect in these BE parts is both provisional and "What have you done for me lately". Some here (BE) still don't have much respect for the newbies...with Creighton probably on the tail end of the newbie schools.
Both Jays fans and BE fans would like to see some March validation from Creighton. Even with All-World DMD, we couldn't make a SS. This new gaggle of Jays appears to have the moxie, skill, and balls to do some damage - come March. I for one, expect no less.
As alluded to by ol' Sactown...a.k.a. WuShock, many have a perception of my Jays as prissy, pansy, suburban horse hoopsters...playing "pretty" basketball. Hopefully this current group can finally put that sh_t to bed. I am liking the attitude, the not backing down from confrontation, and the swagger. Creighton will never have a G'town hood swagger nor an X free-for-all brawl, but it is a nice change of pace from pretty basketball.
These next few years will set the tone for Creighton - Competitive, in the mix for conference/national honors, and making a couple of NCAA runs.
Ps: Just between u n me...and keep this to yourself. Old gtmo will be happy when my Jays are the most hated team in the conference. When we win in spite of the venue, regardless of the rank of the opposition, and begin racking up repeated championships. Domination breeds contempt, hate, and a grudging respect- the best kind of respect. Lil' Creighton and the nine dwarfs. That is heaven.

Although it is impossible to adopt a mascot of an arbitrary league team on a web form -- point conceded.

Two questions:
1. Who's laughing? (answer: CU)
2. How's the Valley?
Sactowndog wrote:Joking aside, I have no issue with Creighton on the court. My issue is the Creighton pick, far more than any others, signaled that this conference was the Catholic basketball conference. VCU had more success, more population, population more interested in basketball, and was a far better logistical fit in a 10 team conference then Creighton. But they weren't Catholic. Even Wichita at that time was in a larger basketball crazy state than Creighton in a smaller football crazy state. Yet the Big East choose the school in the smallest, most football crazy state because they were a "like minded institution".
I think this signal is a loser in the marketplace and given the ratings I have been proven correct so far. Hopefully, for Butler's sake I am wrong. We shall see what the ratings are this year.

Long time since I've visited but here goes. On paper you might be right but those of us who saw the Creighton fans at MSG despite the distance knew that they were a very good pick. I think they broke the ticket sales record actually. Why would you pick someone like Wichita who doesn't fit at all in any way compared to a like minded institution? Creighton attendance for basketball is off the charts and they are a top 10 team. They won NCAA tournament games in soccer and volleyball this year. So what was your argument again?

The argument was around TV ratings in basketball which is all that matters.
