I agree, it doesn't get any worse than this. It is playground basketball, pure and simple... They took 37 3's tonight. No attempt at all to move the ball around and find the open man... 6'1 165 pound guard Shamorie Ponds was once again the leading rebounder, increasing his team lead in that department... Zero fast break points until the final minutes of the game. I guess when your point guard is the only one crashing the boards it's hard to get the running game going... Delaware St shot 58% for the game against this shaky ass defense. Every white guy on the team plays "D" like their sneakers are made of cement. And the other guys ain't too hot either... If Mullins coaching has improved the play of any returning player, I'd love to know who it is, because they all look like they've regressed to me. And finally, what the hell does Mullin tell these guys at halftime. Every second half starts out with us getting blown out, tonight a 4 point deficit blossomed to 15 in the blink of an eye. And while easy basket after easy basket get made against us, no adjustments are ever made.
I realize it will never happen, but what this team desperately needs is an assistant like Larry Brown to be hired. Someone that is actually interested in teaching some basketball fundamentals at practice, instead of just beating everyone at HORSE. As undisciplined and wild as they played in the 4 previous loses, i thought for sure they would come out tonight with some intensity and dedication to playing the game the right way. Instead it was more of the same, launching non stop threes, no defense and getting bullied in the paint. Enough is enough, it's time for Mullin to raise the bar in what's expected from these guys.
