There was an article in Casual Hoya last week with a list of possible replacements. But ideally, JT3 would get the team back in the right direction.

As much as it pains me to mention anything to do with Wichita, Gregg Marshall would be an absolute home run for Georgetown. Not sure he would take the job (he likes the Turds for some strange reason), but he would bring the type of defensive toughness the Hoyas used to punish people with every game. He would have them near or at the top of the league within 2-4 years, depending on how quickly he can recruit his type of players. He can be a bit of a jerk, but is, without question, a great coach!

The Georgetown job would definitely garner a lot of interest. Great recruiting area, strong academics, brand new practice facility, located in a major city, no football to compete with, and on top of that they are paying JT3 close to 3 million dollars a year. Could easily land a big name coach if they moved on from Thompson

I would like to say I'm pretty close to the situation at hand. I'll start by saying, I hope he rights the ship. From a financial and legacy POV. There is a scenario that JT3 could be fired (forced to resign) if this season is a repeat of what happened last year. It's all about the donors, It doesn't matter if big John is still there. He has pull, but it only goes so far. They need to sell tickets and get the fan base excited again. The revenue generated from BBall supports the other sports. The administration will not cut their nose off spite their face. Big John will be involved, but he won't be able to prevent it. Moving forward, he probably will have to give the blessing to the new coach or it will be destined to fail. If the roads are closed to Big John's & JT3's player alum, that would be a huge issue. I'm pretty sure JT3 will be taken care of to make this a amicable decision between him, the administration and Pops

I noticed it was mentioned that the steep consistent decline happened the as soon as the freedom of movement rule was implicated, that is spot on. Our bread and butter has always been stifling defense and controlling the pace. The defense can't hold us down anymore when we go on our 5 minute plus scoring droughts.

This is a brilliant idea...seriously!
1. Strengthens Big East coaching: Yes
2. Instant hatred: Yes (at least from Jays' fans)
3. Banishes the Shockers to mediocrity: Emphatic Yes!
How do we get this process rolling?

Go Bluejays!

Isn't Greggggg just all slathered up in Koch Brothers money? Any real reason for him to ever leave Wichita?

He does have the Koch money behind him. Even though they made a final four recently (yuk), the Valley is becoming a real drag on WS and their RPI. This year, if they lose a couple more noncon games, they might have to win the Valley tournament just to make the Dance and they have always struggled winning that tournament. At some point Gregg's ambition will kick in if he feels there is a big problem with continued success as a team stuck in the Valley. Recruiting will always be an issue. You never know, but I suspect he will leave if the Turds can't get out of the Valley.

They likely aren't losing a couple more OOC games- here's what they have left...
Southern Nazerine
@ Colorado St 79% KP
St Louis 98%
vs Oklahoma 52%
Oklahoma St 77%
South Dakota St 94%

But they're going to need to rack up a ton of wins in the Valley. Right now, the Valley is #15 in RPI. 21-27 vs d1 schools. The wins Wichita has right now pretty much suck. That's going to hurt frankly as much as the conference.

Mark my words - Gregg Marshall is not going to coach at any school with rigid admissions standards. We will never see him at a Big East school. At WSU, all you need is a heartbeat to get in. There is a reason that the school motto is "No Refunds".

Year in and year out the Conference will be a problem for their RPI and Marshall knows it. Doesn't mean he will move, but it's a problem for him and for Wichita!
