I guess the SEC got demoted.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

UConn is falling apart...in every respect and the AAC has zero ranked teams. The Big East is on the verge of having 3 top 10 teams and 4 top 25 teams. Anyone who mentions the American and the Big East in the same breath are crazy.

Funny the Top 25 effects of X, BU and CU getting scooped up by the Big East---St. Mary's, Gonzaga and RI only non F5/BE teams that are ranked.

It's early though. And of the next 10 getting votes in AP, 3 are outside there as well. And VCU in coaches in in the next 10 getting votes as well. Really after this weekend is when polls start to matter after all the exempt tournaments are completed.

Kevin Ollie should have left while the iron was hot. Now he's stuck in the hot pile that is the AAC holding the bag that is UConn.

What a mess, I almost feel bad for him, Almost.

Just for you guys/gals who think that our record against the top 25 or top 50 matters more than our record against the FB5, today's Sagarin rankings have us as the 3rd best conference overall, with a 6-1 record against the top 50 in that system. Also, although we rank 3rd behind the Big10 at 2nd, their current record against the Sagarin top 50 is 3-8. GO BEASTIES.

I used the Sagarin rankings here only because Sagarin is a FREE service (unlike KenPom, which gives you a basic level for free, but requires a paid subscription to let you look easily at a whole league at once. FWIW, I have no preference for either computer system, but they are the 2 most popular (most widely followed) ones. At this point in the season, they can disagree substantially; by March, they look almost identical. Any of you think that one or the other is more accurate?

Big East should have at least five wins against the Big 10. We had four in the Gavitt games and Creighton did beat Wisconsin.

This matters a lot for perception purposes. So far we are blowing out most mid majors and consistently beating top competition while staying in the game even in losses vs. F5 opponents. I think nationally people are realizing more and more that you don't need football to be a great basketball school. You just need to allocate more funds and resources to basketball. It really will be interesting to see how long UConn allows football to slowly erode their basketball prestige. Very interesting case study.
