This thread is important because it's measuring us against the perceived upper crust of college hoops. We all know that a win over Wichita is more impressive than one over Boston College, but the dimwits at ESPN and other talking heads are more impressed they see the Big East at 8-4 or whatever vs our "power conference" rivals.

P.S. Nobody at the end of non-conference is going to look at our record of 23-23 and call out that one was a win vs Missouri.

honestly, I've never heard them saying that ever before. It's definitely not as regimented as in college football where you hear their announcers all the time say this guy has the most yards per attempt in P5 conferences. You hear that all the time. No where near as much in college hoops. But you hear a whole hell of a lot about stuff like record vs top 50, top 100, etc.

And I think college basketball lends itself less to that kind of condensed analysis.

I suspect that if the AAC was included in the list we were keeping track of, stever would be just fine with the tracking...

no, because it's meaningless. Top 50 is what means stuff. that's what gets teams in tournaments, not beating random teams from the top conferences. I've said it every year, labels are stupid. I mean back when Butler, Creighton, and Xavier were in their old conferences- games vs them meant more than just random teams from other conferences.

Actually I don't think he would be fine with that. stever just has make contrarian statements mo matter what. Always has to have some snippet of superior opinion even when agreeing. Yep, the man with the last word.

A mixed day at the office. Wins by Nova, Xavier and the Jays but Marquette and the Johnnies can't grab wins. Gavitt Games end at 4-4. Another good week coming up

11/21: Oregon vs. Georgetown
11/23: Michigan State vs. St. John's
11/24: Butler vs. Vandy
Florida vs. Seton Hall

As teams advance in their tournies, we will update.

ACC : 2-1
B1G: 4-5
B XIi: 0-0
PAC 12: 1-0
SEC: 2-0

Overall: 9-6

Go Big East!
