I will say this. After watching the second half of the Georgetown game I know understand where the endless source of pessimism comes from for stever.

I honestly don't know how Georgetown could have played any worse in that last minute of the game (I guess it can always get worse). Not to pile on JT3, but, boy, you enter the last minute with three timeouts, and you don't even use one with those with 7 seconds left to set up something at the end of the game? Georgetown was playing careless and out of control all game, that it was guaranteed that they would get a wild, low percentage shot to win it.

Two traveling calls, no interior defense, dumb fouls and missed free throws all in a span of 55 seconds.

With upcoming OOC games against Syracuse, Oregon, Wisconsin/Tennessee and Connecticut, they can easily rebound with strong wins in non-conference - but, man, that would have been a huge win to fall back on if they struggle against those teams.

I thought the play of the game was when Pryor decided to drive the ball 1 on 3 and turned it over with about 3:50 to play. Hoyas up 9 at the time with the ball and a full shot clock and he turns it right over, on an already low % play. Just stupid, stupid, stupid. JT3 was rightfully furious (for about 2 seconds). Should have sat his ass down to send a message. Discipline and smart play is not learned with a 2 second tongue lashing.

I think this is part of the learning curve. Happens when you're trying to change the whole mindset from half court, use full shot clock offense to fast paced offense. It's hard to have a balance when to switch it on and off.

More troubling to me was the inbounds plays. I think they had 3 turnovers down the stretch. Players taking extra step with the ball. Slipping on the floor (bad luck). and stepping on the sideline. and one time got lucky (as announcers pointed out) to have a guy open even though no one was moving/cutting to the ball. Is it coaching? or players just not having the poise? could also be due to lack of a true point?

he could end up being huge for us. Our preseason hype didn't really take into account many contributions from him. If these first two games are any indication, he's poised to change the trajectory of this team

cowan straight up punked the refs with that foul on copeland at the end. should've been an offensive or intentional foul on him and sealed the game for georgetown. that was frustrating. pryor hurt gtown at the end too being careless

What can be any more 'new' Big East than the league undefeated save Georgetown falling on their faces in a big spot?

The unheralded star for CU over WI was Toby Hegner. Guy made only one bucket (a big three to go from 2 up to 5 up at the beginning of our run that took us to an 11 point lead), but his defense - particularly his double teams in the post confounded Wisky. After the game, coach revealed that Toby ran with the scout team all week, playing the part of Nigel and Hap. I'm thinking that after three straight practices of simulating those guys, he knew their tendencies better than they knew themselves. Hegner was on the floor the last 6 minutes of the first half when we went from 6 down to 3 up (+9) and from about the 7:50 mark to the last minute, when we went from a two point lead to taking control of the game.
