This Nova v. Purdue game is great. Very entertaining. Hoping Nova can pull it out.

LoVett was an absolute beast and is a relentless scorer...has a much better shot than advertised IMO. Ponds can shoot too but he's more smooth and more likely to pick your pocket on D. 23 and 21 as FRESHMEN! Imagine these guys with more experience and adding Simon the 5 star Arizona guard transfer next year? Man...guards for days. Once again my only concern are our bigs who for the most part cannot handle passes and routinely miss bunny shots under the rim. The score of this game was very misleading and would have been a 30+ margin if we didn't let up. Owens shows more upside than Sima or Yakwe at this point which is concerning. Idk what happened to Yakwe and Sima but they look lost. Either way, 2-0 got the W and move on to the real tests Minny and Michigan St. These games coming up are just gravy if we win either.

God I can't wait for those two games, though ill probably end up missing one if not both games because sling doesn't have dvr.

If we can split Minny and MSU I will be thrilled. That's about as good as we can expect at this point IMO. If we somehow beat Minny and MSU we would enter national headlines but I know that's very unlikely. Watching Marquette game now and they are off to a slow start...feel like I'm watching a SJ game hah. They have some nice pieces it really is too bad Ellenson didn't stay a bit longer would have been real interesting. Some careless play by Marquette but they need to settle down and will be fine.

Offensively, Sima shows decent footwork, but his hands are iffy. He was doing too much reaching tonight on defense. Got himself into foul trouble, and eventually, fouled out. Yakwe actually played pretty decently on the defensive side of the ball. You could tell Binghamton was aware of him while creeping into the lane. His offensive game is still a work in progress, although he can occasionally stroke the 12-footer.

Owens is more fluid than both Sima and Yakwe, IMO. He also has a decent stroke from outside. I mentioned a couple days ago that our bigs possess different skill sets. It's been put on display during these first two games. So, I wouldn't consider it disconcerning Owens has played better than Sima and Yakwe. I'd call it a "problem" worth having. It's also still early.

The backcourt of LoVett and Ponds look like the goods. I know, I know St. John's haven't played tough teams, but there are things you can see from those two that you sense will translate even with tougher competition. They both feed off one another, and they're going to be a pain in the ass for teams. Ponds also had 9 rebounds tonight.

I'm looking forward to Friday's match up with Minnesota.

Jesus that was a nerve-racking win for Nova and its only November, great win against a tough match up. Refs were callling fouls every time Nova tried to front Purdue's big men which made it even more impressive of a win.
