Nova was both the Big East and national champs. Just sayin...

Still doesn't make the initial statement invalid. Just sayin...

Is the long term goal to get SHU to the point where the upper section would have to be open for all games because of ticket demand?

If that's the ultimate goal, seems like a good time to start doing it would be when the National Champs come to town.

No, Seton Hall was Big East Champs. The conference tournament champion is the Big East champion of the year.

Well that would certainly be ideal, but at the moment it's a long way from realistic.

Show me where it says that in the Big East by laws. Big East tournament champs are just that, the tournament champs. The regular season isn't just to seed a tournament.

Throughout the history of the Big East, the regular season championship has widely been considered secondary to the tournament championship. Take nothing away from Villanova, both teams have a claim to the "Big East Champions" title and they have the even bigger "National Champions" title, but the tournament title at MSG is more prestigious. It's like all American sports - pat on the back to the team with the best regular season record, but people remember the playoff winner.

You are correct, sir. They will always remember who the ultimate winner this year was:

And I'm not disputing that lol. I acknowledged that Villanova is also the National Champion, which trumps both Big East titles. Congratulations once again.

But just remember how close they were to winning a treble and who stood in their way ;)

Hall2012 wrote:My opinion is open it up. As long as the team meets expectations, the extra seats should sell themselves, and not just to Villanova fans. This could easily end up being the Big East's must-see game of the season. It's almost certainly Seton Hall's. The big difference between now and the Syracuse game from 2013 is that Seton Hall is actually good - there's a reason to come watch them, not just the opponent. Worst case scenario, if the team fails to live up to expectations, is a repeat of 2013 which at least generates some extra revenue.

Nova also doesn't have as many fans as cause nor are they as passionate. I'm sure Nova will have a number of new bandwagon fans after the title but just based on sizes of the school they won't touch cuse's numbers.
