"Little Brother." LOL. Make a Final Four and we'll talk.

NYC is Metropolis. Chicago is Gotham.

Maybe it's because I'm an east coaster (though currently living in the Midwest), but I've never heard Chicago referred to as Gotham. Only New York City (and occasionally Newark since the fictional city is located in NJ).

Xavier for me. They were the one program that I thought we have a recent history with prior to joining. Xavier-Creighton games bring back some tremendous memories for me. I also like Mack and think he is extremely underappreciated. That being said, I think Macura is a punk!

I like Villanova too. Our games against them the first year in the league will always be special to Creighton fans, plus I like Jay Wright (but that doesn't mean I won't heckle him when he starts whining to the officials). I like their offense, how they get by with 3 guards, and envy their recruiting.

Coming into the league, I would have put Marquette at the top of the list as I know plenty of people from Omaha that went to college at Marquette. It also seems like Marquette brings more of their fans to our home games than any other team in the conference. There absolutely is a lot of cross-over where people went to one of our schools for undergrad and the other for grad school. Due to their struggles in the conference, I suppose they've slipped a bit in my mind.

I root for all of the teams in the noncon and try to watch as many games as I can.

I admit that I had a hard time supporting/rooting for St John's under Lavin. I thought the players were largely "me first" and "look at me" types, which turns me off.

Your original post was pretty intricate and thought out...but I'm the one that's butt-hurt. Got it.

Like I said, I like Butler. I'm already down the road as far as this thread is concerned.

I like this Butler/Xavier animosity, the BE needs organic stuff like this, not fake Uconn/UCF type crap. I got nothing invested this beef(rivalry), but it's legit. Keep it going!

I root hard for all the teams in the Big East. I don't dislike any team and when the season starts I'm for all 10 teams. When conference play begins I'm passionate about my Musketeers and I root for all other BE teams when they are not playing us. I know we do have a deep rooted rivalry with Butler however I don't dislike or hate any team in our esteemed conference. Was I happy when Darin Archbold burned us for 42 points at home in 1992 and smoked us 6 days later in the conference tournament? No, but I admired what they accomplished against us. In the MCC tournament in 1995 the bracket was reconfigured so the home team (Wright State) would get more rest if they advanced. So in comes then Butler coach Barry Collier at the podium ,and much to the disgust of the MCC, said "I didn't know we were playing in the Wright State invitational". I liked him ever since and I was glad they, along with Creighton, joined us in the Big East. And former Butler player, the late Joel Cornette was the son of a friend of mine who attended St. Xavier here in Cincinnati so whatever your allegiance is it's always nice to keep in perspective that it's just a game.

Marquette has been our "Big Brother" forever. Our Jesuit Region is HQ'd in Milwaukee. Jebbies (or Jezzies-depending on where you're from) flow back and forth between the 2 schools like water. We were all Independents together back in the 50's - 70's. Marquette, as family, continued to schedule the Jays for years (when they didn't need to)...there was a period when we lost sports contact, but generally the Warrior/GE's and even DePaul, to a bit lesser degree, kept playing Creighton over the years (Al, Hank, Rick, and even some of the newer coaches), when it wasn't fashionable to play a Middie "who might beat you" on occasion. We have history with Marquette and DePaul, therefore I always want them to be successful.

Rooting for StJ is more of a recent thing - good for the conference. Rooting for Lehigh, Manhattan, Quinnipiac, and MASON developed over spending a lot of east coast time.
