Mussini will be a catch and shoot guard and when he is warming up, watch out. He brought us the win vs. Cuse last year. Ellison is hurt but from what I hear it's nothing major. He was awful early on but really seemed to get settled towards the end of the season...he's also 6'6 so he will create major matchup problems. None of this even mentions 5 star Justin Simon the Arizona transfer who will suit up next year. I was at midnight madness and he is an athletic freak...he knows how to get to the rim.
My concern are the bigs. Sima looked good before injury last year and hasn't been the same since. Owens can rebound against smaller teams, but the wind can blow him over. Amar can shoot but he still stays away from the paint for the most part. Williams has been either injured or just plain bad since he came here. Yakwe is promising but he also needs to pack on some pounds. I never understood why we never go after those big 6'10-7'0 250-275 lb guys. We never seem to get the real monsters...just skinny skeletons. I always want a guy like a Pinkston (Nova) or a guy like Blair (Pitt). Yes they are 6'7, but look at their body types. They are bruisers and they are not afraid to throw their weight around in the paint.
I truly think we are 1-2 meaty bigs (with offensive skill like Blair, Pinkston, Stainbrook) away from being a consistently ranked team once the experience is there.

Win there- and you get Baylor or VCU and then one of Wichita St or Louisville. Lose and you get the loser of the Baylor/VCU game, and then likely one of LSU or Old Dominion. Considering only other good OOC game is Syracuse- that's a pretty big swing there. So they have to get the kinks out really fast.
MSU is without their two starting big men up front. Gonna be tough for them too. We also have PSU at MSG who should be pretty good and a tougher out than most think.
MSU will have had 2 tougher games before the St John's game with games against Arizona and Kentucky. And the game with St John's is in 3 weeks. So they'll have had a much better chance to work out the kinks than St John's against much better competition than what St John's is seeing.
Penn St is a game with a lot of risk but little reward. It's a home game so a win is only .6 for the RPI. But the SOS won't help much at all.

lol Joe3, I know now you don't go on redmen.
Over there are alot of Ahmed/Pinkston comparisions. Just read alittle.
Put a guard on him and Ahmed will bully him, put a big on him and he'll blow right by.
I'd prefer him and RF as the 2 forwards with Yakwe at center.
