Get Marquette and Seton Hall one more conference win each and a win or two in the BET and you got yourself 7 BEast teams in the dance.

That's not realistic though. 6th place team in the 10 team Big East(both this incarnation and before)- has never finished with a winning record.

It'd be far more likely that 1 of Butler, Creighton or Georgetown would finish with a fewer win and finish at 9-9 quite frankly. I'd be really surprised if St John's finishes for instance with only 5 conference wins. The teams most likely to pay for that would be Butler, Creighton, Georgetown, Marquette, and Seton Hall.

The likelihood of it happening has nothing to do with the accuracy of TAMU's post.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

a far more likely route to 7 teams would be an extra win or 2 in the OOC portion. Like Seton Hall get 2 more wins in the MTE. Marquette with a win in their extra game. (have to remember- these records do not include those in the equation).

The thing with this projection is that it's really best case scenario on what w/l records in conference play would be to get a lot of teams in. You look at the 3-7 and you aren't going to get any better than that for the conference.

Oh I agree it's not likely, but it would be nice. I also think the gap between Marquette and Providence is actually a little bigger than KP does. Would not surprise me if the bottom three ended up with 12 conference wins between them. But St. Johns is young and talented and Cooley is a magician, so would not surprise me if they grabbed a few unexpected wins.
