2017 Phil Knight Invitational

Postby milksteak » Wed Sep 21, 2016 3:17 pm

It has officially been announced for November 23rd - 26th. There are two, eight-team tournaments that will occur. Teams in the same conference will not be placed in the same tournament.

Teams: Arkansas, Butler, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Portland, Portland State, Stanford and Texas.

Very elite field. I am very, very excited for Butler -- obviously -- but I'm also pumped for Georgetown. It'll be a helluva cool event.

Let me guess, you must be a Nike contract school to be invited right?

yeah it'd be those either/or combo's. I'd think your combos would be pretty much on- except Duke and UNC probably flip. Duke in the higher one and UNC in the lower one.

Xavier was originally scheduled to play this tournament in 2012. Not sure what happened. Since we joined the BE, maybe it was too many BE teams.

This is correct. Butler and Xavier were going to be the A10 picks.

I put UNC in the higher one because they have closer ties to Nike, same reason Georgetown gets the nod in the higher bracket.

First Xavier gets hosed out of the Big Ten challenge and now this. Too bad.
