Big East NYE Marathon moving to MLK day

Hearing that the Big East is moving the (formerly known as) New Year's Eve Marathon to MLK day this year which makes tons of sense.

I've heard this as well. I think the NBA does an all day slate of games that day as well so this makes a ton of sense.

now THAT is smart as anything. Between now and 2050, only twice would it be problematic due to the presidential inauguration.

Also, would be heavily promoted during the NFC playoff divisional rounds- or even better- during some of the years NFC Championship game(which is always like the #2 or 3 tv game of the entire year).

Smart. NYE everyone is still way too much into the CFP. Creighton played at St. Johns on NYE last year, so does that mean CU still gets a home game for this year's marathon (albeit two weeks later)?

Don't be surprised to see games played on New Year's Eve, though. They will just be during the day like last year...

Yeah, not only that but then you have the once every 6 years NYE is a Sunday so NFL, then I think about once every 6 years again it's the Saturday when the CFP SF are held.

As far as your question regarding CU, that answer is probably no.
2013 Marathon- hosted Marquette
2014 Marathon- travelled to Providence
2015 marathon- hosted Villanova(remember the Marathon wasn't NYE last season).

So would seem that 2016 would have Creighton on the road.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some games on that Friday night actually(30th). And yeah a game on 31st. And maybe even some games on New Years night.

What is going to be really interesting is the schedule around the marathon. Will that be the "weekend game" for the week before? Or will we see some teams playing a Saturday/Monday combo there?
