2016-17 non-conference schedules

The home for Big East hoops

I think Dayton's thing as well quite frankly is that schools have a limited number of OOC games that they can use with home and away situations. You only see schools having 1 or 2 true road games(outside of Nova with the Big 5). So with that limited number of road games- schools are going to be looking for bigger names than Dayton. Just take Georgetown for instance. We have 1 road game this season OOC. vs Syracuse. Dayton just isn't going to compete with that.

Very curious to see how many bids the MWC, SEC, AAC, and A 10 wind up with in 2017. You've got to beat people to make the NCAA Tournament.

So True! Don't play anybody tough and then bitch and moan on Selection Sunday!

I get Xavier, were just too close perhaps, but tell me again why noone in the BE will schedule us? Can't be expansion as all agree that's not in the cards anytime soon. Its an honest question. Thanks

I'd imagine its 2 things:

1) UD is very strong at home. So any home & home is unlikely to be a sweep
2) UD is better than their national profile suggests. So beating UD doesn't get enough credit and losing to UD gets too much credit.

This reminds me of when CU was in the MVC and couldn't get anyone to play a home/home. I imagine another challenge Big East teams would have in playing Dayton is (and I don't mean to offend) but seeing Dayton on the home schedule doesn't really get anyone excited. The Flyers are a quality opponent but the negatives simply outweight the positives.

No problem man. It takes a long time to change the national perception. I honestly think just now are people accepting that Xavier is a legit program and not a plucky mid-major. And we have been good for almost 20 years now.

In the last ten years, Dayton is 10-1 against P6/P5 conference teams at UD Arena, and 3-0 against ranked P6/P5 conference teams at UD Arena.

After Dayton blew out #6 Pittsburgh by 25 points, P6-conference coaches wanted nothing to do with UD Arena, and most still don’t. I can’t blame them.

Muddy, we already acknowledged Dayton is good at home. No reason to humble brag yourself to death. But since you prompted it, I will again show this beautiful picture.

Can someone explain why the F--- Big East topics end up getting derailed by UD posters?

Dayton won't schedule Wright State for the exact same reasons they always complain about. They don't want to lose @ Wright State. Instead they schedule a D-2 team St Joe's of Indiana and RPI killer 321 VMI.

My apologies- had no intention on driving this wedge between us. You may have noted that out of respect I never post on threads not involving conference expansion/realignment or in this case BE non-con schedules.

On the post above, we avoid Wright State like the plague because they would be a "bad loss" (actually devastating) for the RPI. UD is not a bad loss, and may arguably raise the typical BE rpi with us in the schedule compared to other lesser non-con opponents. But I get the home and home, and not sure we'd entertain only an away game with the BE (I hope we would). By the way D2 schools have no impact on RPI and thus we schedule them as a buy game as opposed to a lousy D1 rpi team. But gotta say that VMI game has us all puzzled. Maybe we can't find a decent foe?
