Jay Wright told @CBSSports that Villanova should know something by the end of September regarding Omari Spellman's eligibility for 16-17.
Creighton's Isaiah Zierden (shoulder) has been cleared for all basketball related activities, Greg McDermott told @CBSSports
Creighton's Cole Huff (knee) is probably three weeks to a month away from being cleared for contact, Greg McDermott told @CBSSports.

Whispers are that Omari will sit out first semester and be eligible 2nd half of the year. Not corroborated but what has been floated among several Nova faithful.

if that were the case- wouldn't miss too much. exempt tourney isn't good this year, and then the OOC schedule outside of the Notre Dame game on 12/10 isn't that strong(guess you could include the Purdue game for Gavitt games as well). The big OOC game he would be able to play Virginia.

The challenge would be for Wright to acclimate him into the lineup who would have played already like 10 games. Sometimes that can be a tricky proposition.

Not sure how that would be possible unless it took the NCAA till the second semester to declare one way or the other if he was eligible. I'm pretty sure they can only make a yes or no decisions about whether he can play this year. But I could be wrong.

Yes sounds weird but that is what is being floated. The NCAA is such a mess with how it hands down it's judgments, frankly nothing would surprise me. There is some ruling about when a kid's HS eligibility clock starts. So Omari started HS, got pulled, and sent to another school where he went back into the 8th grade. The next year he is back in HS. All accounts are that the kid did very well academically once he did get settled in HS, and there are no issues about credits, etc. But the NCAA being the NCAA may penalize him for starting and stopping the first time he entered 9th grade, and count that as a his taking 5 years to complete HS instead of 4. So I'm guessing they can't rationalize taking a full year of eligibility from him, thus the half year. But what I can't understand is that some kids now do have 4 years of HS and then move onto a post-secondary BB mill before heading to college and and apparently that is just fine.

F'ing NCAA for ya.
