Bold BE Predictions for 2016-17

Postby GumbyDamnit! » Fri Sep 02, 2016 9:08 am

About 2 months before the 2016-17 college BB season gets underway.. thought I'd throw out some bold, and not so bold, predictions for the upcoming year.

1. Depaul WILL NOT finish in last AGAIN this year.
- Everyone always assumes that DePaul is the worst team in the BE. Well the last 2 years that has not been the case as they have finished ahead of 3 different programs in that span. They're not looking at a bid but they aren't as terrible as everyone seems to paint them as.

2. Josh Hart will be a 1st team AA and Wooden Award Finalist.
- He had a great off-season where he got stronger and played against great competition. I think the feedack that e got from NBA Exec's (that he wasn't yet ready for first round) will fuel him all year long. Look for him to put up big #'s this year.

3. The BE will get 6 teams into the tourney.
- Nova, X, G'town, CU, SHU &.... MARQUETTE!

4. Your 2016-17 All-Big East 1st Team:
*Hart (POY)
E. Sumner
LJ Peak
Kelan Martin
M Watson
Delgado

2nd team:
K Jenkins
T Bluett
Foster
J. Brunson
Garrett Jr.
Cheatham

5. The BE will get 4 Top 4 seeds in March
Nova, X, CU &...SHU.

So who will finish last?

I think it'll be PC unfortunately... Love what Cooley is doing and they have had a terrific first 3 years in this conference but I just think they have lost too much.

I love the boldness, but if Butler isn't in a position to make the tournament, I'd be very surprised to see Kelan Martin on the Big East's 1st team.

Hoyas will win the Big East. Villanova has obviously been great in the first three years, but they have lost too much.

Top five:

1. Georgetown
2. Xavier
3. Seton Hall
4. Villanova
5. Marquette

Five Big East teams will make the tournament.

Butler will win the NIT.

Providence will finish last.

Whoa Whoa Whoa! I'm the biggest Hoya homer there is, but this is not happening.

I think we will be a lot better this year, place in the top four or potentially three depending on how things break. I'd be shocked also if we don't at least get to 2nd round of the NCAA's. That's where this conversation ends.

How can you be the biggest Hoya Homer when this individual does believe this is happening?

I'm in no position to make predictions for the middle and bottom of the Big East, but I'd be surprised if Nova, Xavier and Creighton weren't at or near the top.
