And yes, I do agree with you 100% about what the AAC will do with UConn football. They just aren't going to allow UConn to park their sorry football in the AAC and take their basketball to the Big East. That is just not an option. The AAC has all the leverage there, UConn has no leverage against the AAC. NONE. UConn would have to go indy in football and things are extremely tough for that. Especially if one of the AAC's answers is Army fb only.

No way AAC adds basketball schools with no football. They're going to add more crappy football schools with even crappies basketball. AAC is only going to get worse at Basketball and Football from whatever the B12 does.

We'll see about it. They could easily just add a VCU or Wichita bball only, having 10 for football and 10 for basketball- and be set. That would not be worse at basketball. And I don't think you can just dismiss that as a no way because numbers wise, that would work. Football I agree will be weaker due to this(but still the strongest G5 most likely). But basketball has a chance to not get hurt that much.

And UConn won't ever qualify for the CFB playoff coming out of a weakened AAC.

UConn won't qualify for the CFB playoff - ever. Put them in the Big XVII, Pac12, SEC, I don't care, it ain't happening. Anyone who thinks UConn football will ever be relevant in football is absolutely delusional. Put them in any P5 football conference, and they are just another Iowa State/ Vanderbilt/ Rutgers/ - maybe finishing second or third of their division every now and then.

Agreed on this. AAC is definitely a football first conference. And frankly they have done much better in that respect than most figured. This is also why I think UCONN could go football only. They aren't great, but it is still a valuable football brand to the AAC.

Didn't Georgetown want to block VCU or is that some bad internet rumor I remember reading?

Can they not come alone? I would prefer to stay at 11 so if they do leave for the ACC in 2025 then we are back to 10. At 11 we could keep the round-robin (although I would prefer ditching it and staying at 18 conference games.)

I've seen a couple of different references of UConn going to the ACC someday. That will not happen, and here is why:

The football schools in the ACC are already disgruntled with the lack of quality football schools in the conference. Florida State and Clemson were rumored to be looking for a way out before the latest TV deal. To a lesser extent, Va Tech and Miami aren't exactly enamored either. The Notre Dame deal calmed all of these schools for now, but adding another miserable football program will only aggravate them all over again. Unless Notre Dame is willing to completely join the conference in FB (will never happen) and demands UConn be admitted as part of their joining (this is even less likely than ND joining), UConn will still be waiting for that coveted offer for decades.

Except the numbers don't work on the football side. That's why the B12 is expanding in the first place. You need at least 12 so you can have a conference tournament game. If they lose 2-4 schools they'll add 2-4 football schools. End of story.

And by your own logic, why would the MVC or A10 let Wichita St or VCU let those teams park their non revenue sports in their conference while their only money making sport to play else where?

That is no longer true. The Big 12 received permission to have a championship game with only 10 members.

Ok I was not aware of that. But it doesn't change much. Clearly 12 is more desirable than 10. That's why the B12 is expanding. They were content at 10 for a while but clearly that is no longer a tenable number.

I don't see why any school would leave the Valley or A10 to play in the AAC as a basketball school. They would be leaving stable leagues for a league that 90% of the current teams are trying to leave. It won't happen.

I don't know about that. The AAC's TV deal might be bad for an upper level conference, but I know that it is night and day better than the MVC's TV deal. In essence, the MVC had to buy air time from ESPN/FSN to get games on the air (The conference then sold advertising to try to make back their money - my understanding is that it amounted to somewhere between breaking even and losing money on the deals). The TV money alone MAY justify a change in conferences.
