We Lost a Good One Today

This is a CU-centric post, but longtime (45 years) OWH Sports writer Steve Pivovar died of cancer this morning. He was the beat writer for Creighton basketball and hosted a weekly chat on Fridays dedicated almost entirely to CU hoops. I always appreciated his lack of homerism and his commitment to objectivity in the face of fanatics (for and against CU). I'll miss you, Piv. RIP.

Sorry for your loss. Also worth noting is the passing of ESPN's John Saunders today. Good guy.

Saunders was a founding member of the Board of Directors for the V Foundation - one of the best things that college hoops is involved in.

So sad about Saunders. Loved that guy on the Sports Reporters. Seems like cause of death is a bit of a secret/mystery.

Too bad.

Loved when they used to team Saunders up with Chickenhawk on Fall Saturdays... dropped the "Your Dad" bomb and Terry would go white as a ghost every broadcast

One of John Saunders best friends is Tim Brando. Tim said, John suffers from type one diabetes. Sleep walks and has major falls.

Tim Brando and John Saunders started together as 6pm guys on Sportscenter in 1986.
