Using KenPom's end-of-season rankings, here's how the 2016-17 schedule stacks up against last year's:

2015-16: 2 teams (Iowa, UW)

#51 to #100
2016-17: 2 teams (Georgia, Michigan)
2015-16: 1 team (LSU)

#101 - #150
2016-17: 1 team (Fresno St.)
2015-16: 2 teams (ASU, Belmont)

#151- #200
2016-17: 1 team (W. Carolina)
2015-16: None

#201 - #250
2016-17: 1 team (IUPUI)
2015-16: 2 teams (IUPUI, Jackson St.)

#251 - #300
2016-17: 2 teams (Houston Baptist, St. Francis)
2015-16: 2 teams (San Jose St., Stetson)

#301 - #350
2016-17: 2 teams (Howard, SIU-Edwardsville)
2015-16: 4 teams (Grambling St., Maine, Chicago St., Presbyterian)

This obviously doesn't take into account players lost or added. But the eye test suggests we'll have a stronger schedule — potentially including 5 top 100 teams (vs. 3 last season) and just 5 rated 200 or worse (vs. 8 a year ago).

Overall, I think it's a big step in the right direction.

I wonder how many teams are like Marquette, with only one road game.

Blue Bloods. Kansas for example rarely plays outside of Lawrence or Kansas City in the non-con, and if they do its at a neutral site like New York, Chicago (and technically "Kansas City"). They do randomly play Kentucky in January Lexington this year and UNLV in Vegas. Last year they only had one true road game.

the Kentucky/Kansas game isn't a random thing- it's Big 12/SEC challenge....

but yeah- there are a lot of teams with only 1 true road game.

top 10 last year from Ken Pom had a total of 20 true road games. Of those 20, 5 were in challenges. some others were things like Nova playing 2 in the Big 5, Louisville playing at Kentucky.

1 may be a bit low- but it's not unheard of either.

saw the UConn/Georgetown game will be on Saturday 1/14. Should be picked up by either Fox or CBS.

and they will be on opposite sides of the Maui Invitational bracket.

We're the opposite at least for our bigger name games. Only Penn St is at home and thats part of the MSG Holiday festival double header.

Seton Hall is the same way. They've got a bunch of good road/neutral court games, but the biggest name coming to the Rock in OOC play is Rutgers. The best team may be FDU.

Hoyas will open Maui with Oregon a top 10 team. Then play either Wisconsin or Tennessee.

Hoyas will Play Oregon, Maryland, Uconn and @Syracuse plus two other Maui games hopefully Wisonsin and UNC.

Other known games are lasalle in Miami and home against Howard.

what's great about Maui for Georgetown is unless we go 0-2, we're going to get 3 good games....

Nova schedule is firming up. UVA, Notre Dame, Purdue, Charleston Classic, LaSalle, Temple, St. Joe's all set. Additionally, they are going to Spain for their once every 4 years trip abroad in August (5-7) where all three exhibitions will be against "select" teams comprised of players from Liga ACB, Spain's top professional league.

a putrid home schedule- but road/neutral really good. The key will be the Florida game to get the 2 other good games in Orlando.
