NBA Draft

As a Nets fan, I always thought Whitehead would end up a Net. The team is going to be pretty bad, so Whitehead is a guy they can use to market around. And there are minutes available at point guard. Jeremy Lin is the guy there now, so Whitehead will have opportunities behind him.

He'll have to play well, of course, but the Nets are the land of opportunity right now. They are counting on scouting and player development to get some young talent before they finally get their draft picks again. Brooklyn is a great fit for Whitehead if Whitehead takes advantage of the opportunity.

Not exactly NBA draft related, but I didn't think this deserved its own thread and this seemed the best fit

Seton Hall's Angel Delgado has reportedly rejected multiple overseas contract offers this summer, citing his desire to remain in school and finish his degree.

Great to hear as a Seton Hall fan and also very smart on Angel's part IMO. It's nice to hear when star athletes (especially in basketball and football) value their education and finishing their degree because so many just treat is as a farm system for the NBA/NFL. Also, I think that after 2 more years playing in the Big East, Delgado could be getting NBA offers in addition to those overseas ones. And if not- they'll still be there.

Mudiay got 1.2 mill from china and also signed a fat shoe contract, plus went in the NBA 1st round a year later. I would take the cash and run. He could trip over a curb and be done.

Mudiay was a projected NBA lottery pick. Totally different situation. No potential guaranteed NBA contract or shoe deal waiting for Delgado. I'm pretty sure the offer he is receiving is no where near a NBA level deal. He's playing the long game and betting on himself and getting a great education at the same time. Smart young man.

It makes no sense for Delgado to go abroad. Just like it makes no sense for Sumner or Bluiett to leave school and play abroad.

I'm not so sure I agree with that. A basketball career is limited to a certain number of years so I see no issue with leaving to get paid. You can always finish school down the road and it will still be paid for. It's already pretty known within X circles that Trevon will be leaving to go pro after this season regardless of NBA prospects and I can't say I blame him. You reach a point where you can't possibly raise your NBA draft stock in college so if you want to go get paid, go do it while you can.

Spurs have signed Villanova's Ryan Arcidiacono. Arcidiacono has been solid throughout summer league. In control, playing smart. Earned it.

Good for him. I hope he has a long career there, great organization.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

So does this mean NBA roster spot or does it just mean he will likely go to their D-league team?

Btw, I love this...

Training camp contract so barring something completely unforeseen he will be spending his year in the D-League
