Not this year but....

Arizona, Villanova, Purdue, NC State, Tennessee, SMU, Western Kentucky and Northern Iowa will all participate in the 2017 Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas, multiple sources told CBSSports.com on Wednesday.

yeah that's just sad. Is the new arena going to be open for this season? You'd think they'd want to bring in some high profile teams for the opening season of the arena to build up the hype.

Interesting that three games will be played on campus (Robert Morris, Drake & UIC). I do like the fact there schools from in-state and near by states. Schools people have heard of.

From my perspective this is the right schedule for DePaul...maybe not for the overall BE, but currently DePaul needs to think about their current team and what they hope to accomplish this season...development and trying to build a level of confidence. It's a year of development for DPU with 8 new players including two transfers who'll be sitting out (Strus and Grandstaff). DePaul as a program has a culture of losing right now and I think Leitao is trying to build the team up by playing a softer OOC schedule. It's not about preparing them for the conference season because they're going to take their lumps regardless IMO. If DPU newcomers don't develop as the season goes on it's a problem, but this season is about building for 2017 when they move into the new arena and hopefully continue to add to the roster by filling out 2017 with what I hope will be three more talented 2017 recruits

Not this upcoming season but SJU will travel to Long Beach State next season for a return trip for a game played last year. For us west coast Johnnies this is great news though I wish we made the trip this season.

ah well in that case I think it's less of a deal. No one goes to allstate as it is.

I agree with you, next season they better have a great slate with teams that draw fans in. Being bad can help them get some big name teams since they will look like an easy(er) win. They should look at schools with local interest like Illinois, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Indiana etc. Now i'm not saying they should sign all of them but try and get one or two on the schedule to go along with their series against Northwestern.
