As far as the X team isn't it strange that hindsight is 20/20? You guys had Tu Halloway tearing up the world and Kenny Freeze down low. Plus you still had a decent Mark Lyons. Back then I used to go on the ESPN pregame boards and the X fans were convinced they were headed to the final four that year.

Maybe before the Crosstown Shootout fight we had aspirations for the Final Four. We were ranked #8 in the country at the time and playing as well as anybody. After it though, the team was never the same.

Changing discussion to foresight, who gets to the next Final Four first, Marquette or Xavier?

You guys are talking about 2 different years. Marquette beat Xavier in '10-'11 and then the brawl happened the next basketball season '11-'12. Xavier actually got to the sweet 16 the year of the brawl (thanks Lehigh!) before losing to Baylor.

Whoops. Then yea, that Marquette loss was an upset. Though in retrospect they had more talent.

You're talking about the wrong year man. And you're about 42 years late in challenging us to a final four race. I guess you can ask if you'll get there before we get our fourth?

Edit: I misread your post so instead I say: I'd focus on just getting to a final four in general before saying "next final four"

"Who gets to the next Final Four first?" Is that hard to understand. You must be tired. Enjoy some video to relax.

That Xavier team had nothing off the bench and Frease down low wasn't as great as many think. It was obvious when Xavier played good teams that year they weren't at the other teams level. Going 15-1 in the A-10 helped that Xavier team a ton. If I'm not wrong that Marquette team went to the sweet 16 that year.

Well the next final four is March 2017, neither of our teams are making that, so I guess I can check flight information and see if our teams will be in attendance and who lands first. Now if you were trying to say "who is going to reach the final four next, Marquette or Xavier" that would be better structured to insult my schools program. I am very tired though, started a new job at Groupon and haven't adjusted to the commute, thank you for the concern.

I don't know why beating a non tournament team is a point of bragging for you. If you wanted to insult us better I'd suggest showing clips of you guys winning in 1968 since that's the only Marquette tournament team Xavier has beaten thus it's the only one that could possibly get under my skin. Just think if we hadn't choked against Depaul and Creighton you might've gotten a rise out of me

The Brooklyn Nets are really going all out marketing Isaiah Whitehead, which is pretty unheard of for a 2nd round pick. They had a big unveiling press conference in Cony Island yesterday with racks of his #15 jersey for sale. It's the kind of stuff you normally see for a big free agent signing or a lottery pick.

He really was a fantastic pick for the Nets. Even in a worst case scenario where he doesn't pan out on the court, they'll still have been able to milk the hometown kid story for everything it's worth. No other 2nd round pick would bring this kind of instant PR and jersey sales. And he certainly has the talent/potential to be successful for them on the court.

I don't think its a given that Xavier won't make the next final four of March 2017. If anything, I bet the odds are pretty good. That being said, I had a bad day at work yesterday so I apologize for the salty comments.

As for Seton Hall, the Nets are promoting the hell out of him and if his agent has half a brain he will leverage that into a guaranteed contract.

IW must have done poorly in interviews. The kid has all the tools. I just don't understand why he dropped so low. There was a stretch late season where he played like the best player in all of college basketball.

I think he was a fringe first rounder and likely 2nd rounder when he announced anyway so it doesn't surprise me that he ended up where he was picked.

A lot of teams were scared away by his inconsistency and poor shooting efficiency- something that was significantly improved in the 2nd half of the season. I do believe he'd have been a top 20 pick next season if he came back to SHU and put up his 2nd half numbers over the course of the entire season. His 2pt shooting % still needs significant improvement, but you could tell he really worked on the 3.

That being said, after seeing how the Nets are treating him, I can't say he made the wrong choice. Brooklyn clearly values him more than a normal 2nd round pick and I expect he'll be given every opportunity to succeed there.
