We play Lafayette in Allentown (10K arena) and ND at the Prudential. What I wonder is what the attendance will be like at the away games. Wonder if SHU would open up the top level and if MSG/SJU would sell out considering the buzz around the NC's coming to town.

I tend to doubt Villanova would play Seton Hall at the WFC, but considering their decade long losing streak at the Pavilion (and 4-2 record at other venues-Rock/MSG- since 12-13), I'm sure the Pirates would sign up for that in a heartbeat

'Nova fans, what are your thoughts on this? Do you feel a sort of budding rivalry with Seton Hall that could justify the bigger stage? Getting that kind of attention from the national champs could actually be pretty helpful in kickstarting the Hall's own fan base.

As far as if SHU would open the top level of the Rock when 'Nova comes to town...that depends. Their rent for the game would increase significantly to open the upper level, so they need to be sure they'll sell enough seats to at least cover those costs. They would only consider it if the game was sold out (or at least very close to it) about a month early. The other thing is they're now going to be wary of opening the upper level just to fill it completely with visiting fans, which is what happened the only previous time they opened it (against Syracuse). I'm sure they liked the extra money, by they also recognized that it hurt the gameday experience for their own fans.

Absolutely have no problem with that. Georgetown will always be the big rivalry but SH-Nova has produced some of the most entertaining games in the last three seasons. It seems like both teams genuinely hate playing against each other. The rivalry has given us Gibbs buzzer beater, Gibbs elbowing Arch, Hart kicking Delgado, 2 closely contested games in 16, Ochefu getting a coin thrown at him from the stands and the epic BET final. Not all proud moments but building blocks for a chippy rivalry in a rather PC league where everyone likes to hold hands and sing kumbaya. Despite these moments I have to say I admire the respect and support Willard and Whitehead showed towards Nova during the tourney run. I'd say SH is rival #2 in the league for nova.

We certainly take some pride in being the only team that's been able to beat Villanova with any sort of consistency since conference realignment. And most SHU fans were pulling for Nova to win the NC (after we lost of course) if for no reason other than to say we were the last team to beat them.

I just didn't know if Villanova fans are starting to take Seton Hall seriously or just see them as a minor annoyance. I'd guess that at this point, we've got your attention (especially with the BET win), but in order to really get Villanova's respect as a rival, Seton Hall needs to beat them in the Pavilion.

I think the SH game could move to the WFC because the proximity to the traveling fan base as well as the improvement of the Pirate team. This is the best SH has been in a decade and with the fan base being so close playing at the easy to get to WFC could draw in more folks to watch the game.

I don't think they have a chance of selling out the entire building unless it's the last game of the season and those two teams are both ranked and #1 and #2 in the conference. Don't take that as a shot Pirate fans, I love the rock but neither of our fan bases who are pretty much in the same area could sell out a game against each other in either MSG or Prudential. The only time we ever sell out s if Duke or Cuse comes to town.

See I don't think the conference is as friendly as we think it is. I know SJU has had some scrums with other teams and I know X has had the same issues as well. Nova and The Hall aren't fans of each other. As each season passes the camaraderie will slowly slip away.

I think the question for Nova in terms of moving the SHU game to WFC is if Seton Hall will excite their fans enough to justify the bigger venue. Although Pirate fans do travel pretty well to St. John's and Rutgers, I wouldn't count on a ton of traveling fans buying up tickets- we can't even fill up the lower bowl of our own building unless a top 5 team comes to town (and brings their traveling fans).

I certainly don't take your comment about not being able to sell out the whole building as a shot, because it's simply true. It's just what you get from a small private school with a (somewhat justifiably) pessimistic fan base. Just look at the numbers from last year- we finished 3rd in the Big East, but 3rd bottom in attendance. And we don't have the excuse of arena limitations as we could open the upper level if needed, but rarely manage to sell out the lower level. Whitehead staying would've been a huge boost as he would've been a selling point to the casual fan. Hopefully they sold enough season tickets before he chose to stay in the draft, but now they're gonna have to try to build some hype without him.

Not to toot my own horn. But its pretty cool to see Xavier averaging more than what their official capacity of 10,250 is.

You are tooting Xavier's horn and rightfully so.

Creighton was at 97% capacity and PC was at 94% capacity, Both excellent numbers. Butler did well at 85%, Marquette's continues to be amazing, while 77% capacity sounds just okay, close to 15k per game for a team trying to get back on track is dynamite.

I expect that Nova's low attendance are two fold, they tried to play a minimum number of games at WFC to hopefully get placed there in the NCAA, they also had a snow game with PC that affected the numbers.
