Whitehead is out but this team will still be a good team. Should make it back to the dance.

They will still be a good team, I'm thinking 4-5 region which is bubble territory.

I'm assuming Carrington will take the lead guard responsibilities? Any idea who the other starting guard will be until Jevon is eligible Powell, Gordon etc?

Rumor is that they had grad transfer Madison Jones (from Wake Forest) lined of for this scenario. If he comes, it'll presumably be with some baggage, however, as he was kicked off the WF team after getting a DUI. He then apparently transferred to Mercer but never made it there and instead finished up his degree at Wake Forest.

Carrington should get some good time at PG (especially until Thomas becomes eligible) but I expect he'll be more of a 2 guard with Thomas/Jones (if he does indeed come) alternating at point.

Hall2012 is correct... Madison Jones (DWI at Wake) will be our starting PG and then Jevon Thomas (choked out a student during a Rec League game) will presumably take over once he comes back at the end of the 1st semester.

Basically our 2 PGs are complete headcases for next year. Yay us.

I would bet JT will be the lead guard with KC at 2G... KC switches over to PG with Eron Gordon and Myles Powell coming off the bench at the 2G/WG when we play a 3 guard line-up in BE play.

I'd bet Madison Jones will be the 4th or 5th guard in the rotation by January/February.

FWIW, Whitehead told SHU he was coming back to school last week and his mother and "advisors" talked him out of school for a "2nd round guarantee". Again, yay us.

Now if only they "advised" him on what getting drafted in the second round means. I really hope someone jumps to take Isaiah late first round because the large majority of second round picks never play in the NBA. The smart ones go overseas and the stubborn ones rot in the d-league. Not saying he can't make it as a second round pick, but very few guys do.

Shelvin Mack is doing just fine... but it took some time from the second round.

I didn't say none of them make it. Some, like Mack, do just fine. But the odds are a lot lower for a 2nd round pick than a 1st round pick. I personally think Whitehead would've been better off waiting another year, as it would've made him a surefire 1st round pick and potentially a lottery pick. He'd be able to make a lot more money than he will as a second round pick, in which his best case scenario is making league minimum for the first 3-4 years.

Whitehead was a big piece but dont discount the loss of Gordon as well, he seemed like a glue guy that they will miss.
