I think Bentil and Whitehead are gone. Whitehead definitely. I also don't think the conference has anything left to prove that we need wins. We can drop the comraderie stuff now. We don't need to pull for one another anymore we've proven ourselves as a conference.

Georgetown has been, unarguably, the most damaging program to the Big East's brand - to date. GU can't be below average for the Big East to succeed long term, which is also why JT3 is not a long term solution. He is awful.

tired of JT3 bashing on this board, it seems to invade every thread.... there are only TWO coaches in this league who have gotten to the Final Four. So unless your coach is named Jay please obsess about your own coach and program

Yeah, I don't get the unprovoked bashing of GTown... Regardless of where they are in the standings it is often the biggest conference game of the year for me/us. The G'town brand still means something to me.

But with that being said, I don't know if the success of the league is really that contingent on a single school or even two schools (I've heard it said countless times that we need a strong G'town and SJU). If those two are 9 & 10 in the league but the other 8 are routinely in the tourney, with multiple teams making the 2nd weekend and a few making the FF, we are in great shape. You want G'town to be good because, when good, they make the game more interesting. It's sort of like when the Dallas Cowboys or the Yankees are good. It makes beating them sweeter. And in SJU's case a Big Apple interested in college hoops is a good thing for us collectively. But we can absolutely succeed long term without either being overly successful.

New generations of fans come along every day. Although Hoya Paranoia was a huge part of my BE fandom I recognize that the next generation does not have that same context when looking at this G'town team. Personally I hope they get their swagger back but if they don't there is a good chance a few of the other BE programs are on track to be consistent powers IMO.

No other coach has the track record of JT3 except Jay Wright

He has a COY, Final 4, 3 BEast Finals appearances (including 1 title), team has been ranked & made NCAA's 8 of the 11 years he's coached the team. What other BE coach has done that not named Jay Wright???

I think that's exactly the problem though. Georgetown IS a big brand. Before Nova won the NC this year, I would say Georgetown was the biggest brand in the Big East. Given all the history, location, etc, I think many people, including myself expect more from Georgetown then we have received in the first 3 years....

Undecided prospects have only one week left before they must announce whether they're coming back to school or staying in the NBA draft. Here's a look at the eight schools with the most at stake during the next seven days:

2. Villanova (G Josh Hart): After a recent workout with the 76ers, Hart updated the Philadelphia Inquirer on the chances he'll stay in the draft. "Still 50-50," he said. It's easy to see why Hart would be torn even with the deadline looming a week away. He showed enough toughness, craftiness, defense and rebounding during Villanova's title run that he'll probably be selected if he stays in the draft, yet his lack of length and explosiveness limits his chances of being taken in the first round. Adding to the complexity of Hart's decision is that Villanova has realistic hope of repeating if he returns. The reigning national champions could return all but two rotation players.

4. Seton Hall (G Isaiah Whitehead): Seton Hall fans eager to know whether Whitehead will be back for his junior season won't have to wait much longer. The high-scoring combo guard plans to announce Thursday whether he intends to stay in the NBA draft or not. Whitehead's decision is tricky simply because his stock is all over the board right now after a sophomore season in which he averaged 18.6 points per game but shot well below 40 percent from the field. His scoring ability and court vision gives him an outside chance of being taken late in the first round. His erratic shot selection and penchant for turnovers could scare some teams away from selecting him at all.

6. Providence (F Ben Bentil): If Ben Bentil was already leaning toward staying in the NBA draft before last week's combine, his performance in Chicago probably only solidified that choice in his mind. The rapidly improving stretch forward measured well during testing and flashed many of the same attributes that were apparent this past season when he averaged 21.1 points and 7.7 rebounds. In his first game, he tallied 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and sank a pair of 3-point shots. The following day he backed that up by pouring in 17 points in just 19 minutes. Bentil isn't guaranteed to be a first-round pick if he stays in the draft, but it seems unlikely he'd fall beyond the first half of the second round.
