Ranking the Big East coaching jobs....

1. St johns. In my opinion the #1 job in the country. And for those of you who dont understand why one would say this, just go back to your hole and agree to disagree

2. Villanova. Great institutional support in a major market with an elite school that has a country club feel and great fan support with great tradition. I also bias schools that play some of their games at nba arenas in big cities (see my #1 pick)

3. Marquette. One of the largest basketball operating budgets in the nation, passionate fan support, huge attendance, great facilitities, premiere program in their region. Whats not to like?

4. Georgetown. Similar to Villanova, elite country club school with great tradition and the nba arena in a major east coast city, but a little less passion from the fan base.

5. Xavier. You get a packed Cintas Center every night, best program in Ohio, great institutional support and fans

6. DePaul. You could rank this one as high as #2 or as low as #10. Really should be one of the top jobs in the country, especially with the new arena, but the athletic department is so poorly run and the past decade has alienated so many fans that it is such a huge rebuilding job.

7. Butler. Historic Hinkle fieldhouse, family atmosphere program, but needs to continue to grow its brand out of the big east

8. Creighton. Premiere program in their state, top notch facilities, history if producing nba players, but needs to continue to grow its brand out of the big east.

9. Providence. The facilities are actually beautiful, the fan base is fantastic, but its an afterthought/minor league city and not in the best recruiting hotbed. Lacking national brand recognition after the tim welsh years

10. Seton Hall. New Jersey's top program with a great arena. But the arena is in newark and the school is in south orange new jersey. Fans are also extremely fickle. Recruiting hotbed if you can make it work.

The big east doesnt have that top end kentucky or duke type job, but really unlike any other conference where all ten of the jobs are pretty awesome.

Thought we had turned the corner on potshots towards Seton Hall, Ball.

Not a pot shot. Someone has to be #10.

Curious, where you would put the hall on this theoretical list?

If this is truly a ranking of current coaching jobs, you have to look to see what coaches would do if there was an opening at two of the institutions in the league. Which job would most coaches take over the other opening. I think DePaul might have potential, but right now I'm not sure that many coaches would take the DePaul job over any other job in the league. Too much uncertainty!

Completely ignored in this ranking is something that every single coach points to as being one of the most important aspects of how good a job is. It's the administration at the school. How much support are they giving the program. I can only speak for PC but this current administration is making it happen. Cooley mentions it constantly. Father Shanley happens to be a PC alum and was there at the founding of the original BE, and was a leader in the effort this time as well. He gets it and his support is why we are getting ready to break ground on a $50 mil on campus men's facility.

If this factor was taken into account it's a reason why St. Johns and Depaul are not currently the best jobs

I'd do some research before acting like St. John's administration isn't supporting the basketball program.

I was at the ribbon cutting of Chappy Field at Anderson Stadium this past weekend. This is what PC has become for even non-revenue sports like soccer and lax. The practice facility breaks ground soon....

If PC is #9, this conference is taking over as the best BBall conference by far.

That's fair, but it completely supports my point. Your new President is substantially better at it than Father Harrington correct? St. Johns aside do you agree with my point? Honestly I had forgotten Harrington resigned.

Top top 6...no changes in team rationales, except
the 2 new teams with things to prove/grow the brands in the BE.

7 Seton Hall
8 Prov
9 Butler
10. Creighton
