I don't know as much about this as you guys close to MU do, but the impression I get is that the family is very unhappy about how it was handled. That says a lot to me and the perception we have is largely based on that.

From a future recruiting perspective I'm not sure it matters how pissed off the ellenson's are about this. They just aren't an influential family in the high school basketball scene in the state. They live in the middle of no where away from all the other talent in the state. They can yell and complain all they want but the coaches that matter in the state aren't going to care.

Not sure how much it matters. But opposing recruiters can now say "Wojo is a liar, look what he did to Ellenson."

What was his AAU team? That may take a bit more with them.

I don't get why Wally was processed instead of Sandy Cohen. Neither are good players, but Wally brings a lot more to the table than Cohen IMO. Wally only had 1 year left of riding the pine while Cohen still has two. Hopefully Cohen gets processed in the coming days and we can bring in two PFs :)

What Wojo did seems a bit shady but I don't see any losers in this situation. Henry Ellenson was given a featured role on offense that let him showcase his skills and led to him being a top 10 pick. Wally got a full ride scholarship for two years for basketball and still has another scholarship for him at Marquette for track and field if he wants to finish up his degree. He also had the luxury of skipping any off season Basketball functions if it interfered with his High Jump training . The only negative right now is that Wally can't play basketball at Marquette with current NCAA rules but he wasn't going to play much anyways and seems to be more focused on Track and Field regardless. I don't blame Wally's mom for being upset but as a Marquette fan who hasn't seen his team in the tournament for 3 years I'd rather see Wojo make any move that he feels makes this team better.

Cohen hasn't proven he's a good player, but he's far better than Wally. Come on.

Like others have said, there is a lot to this situation. This wasn't a cut. I probably would have done the exact same thing that Wojo did. But regardless of the situation this will probably end up with Marquette looking worse than the Ellensons, even if the fault was mostly on the other side.

Let's not jump on Wojo, in what a tweet might be. Always two side to a story.

He was with Wisconsin playground elite but he was only with them for the last couple years. it's a program that occasionally has decent talent that has gone to Marquette (Cohen, Duane Wilson recently) and I imagine wojo probably already has a solid relationship with their coaches that would allow him to still recruit their guys effectively despite a fall out with the ellensons. And honestly if he never got a guy from that program again he should be able to find enough talent elsewhere to make up for it.

Gold and Blue blindfolds on a lot of Marquette fans.

IMO this is a slight overreaction and its not fair to paint marquette fans in this light. It was the understanding that Wally was getting his scholarship in basketball because of his brother, and the fact that they wanted to play together. If that was the understanding all along, then the writing is on the wall if Henry leaves early for the League.

Obviously I could be wrong, that Wojo promised things to the Ellensons and that he is really in the wrong, but I feel that smart coaches don't put themselves in situations like that. Maybe you do for top 10 recruits... idk. Wojo had to have seen this scenario unfolding earlier in the season...
