Are they more talented than Georgetown?

If Bentil returns, and PC just loses Dunn and no one else, why is everyone so down on a team that has made three straight NCAA tournaments?

Please don't try and stop them, this will now be the 4th year these same people are picking Providence to be down near the bottom of the league, they all have been wrong EVERY time. It's fascinating to watch actually.

I thought the same initially. bentil will wear down having to carry the scoring burden as well as rebound and guard the paint.

and then cooley signs emmit holt. 6'7" pF who looks and plays bigger than 6 7. has cooley pulled another rabbit out of the hat?

You're all way off base here. What's definitely gonna happen is that the Big East takes SLU next month; Travis Ford recruits like heck and gets 8 total studs, including Blueitt transferring from X, Hart from Nova, Watson from Creighton, and Bentil from Providence, all of whom become eligible immediately after filing hardship appeals. SLU even gets Henry Ellenson, whose lawyers work out a special deal enabling him to return to college -- and he picks SLU because they offer his brother too! finally, the entire Monmouth bench transfers to SLU too! SLU then goes 19-1 in conference (losing only to Depaul on a disputed buzzer beater), and goes on to win the National Championship over X, who I'm sure will beat Nova in one semi-final, though I'm not sure yet who the only non BE team in the final four will be. So it's SLU all the way, baby (well, unless Gonzaga joins the league too, and then.......!) it's just all so obvious to those of us who analyze the game clearly and logically, my friends! Now where's my bookie?

Bluiett isn't part of the backcourt. I think Creighton's back court is better than Xavier's. Foster will have to have a pretty good year for it to be better than Brunson and Hart though.

I think Villanova will have the best back court, but Creighton will have the best guard tandem. And yes, there is a difference. Xavier falls into third in this category. You could easily make an argument for Seton Hall in third too.

In today's game it's hard to differentiate the term guard from a wing. And the way the game is played there is less a back court and a front court and more perimeter and interior players. Multiple guys can handle the rock, play multiple positions, initiate the offense, shoot the ball from deep, etc. 15 years ago the guards were the shooters and ball handlers, the forwards were guys who drove to the hoop and played midrange, and traditional 4 and 5 men set picks and posted up. Now Brandan Ingram and Kevin Durant are "wings." They mostly stick to the perimeter b/c the can hit the 3, but get out in transition and drive to the basket. And teams like the Warriors have 5 guys who can all play several different positions.

In the BE guys like Hart, Bluett, LJ Peak, Copeland, Martin, Huff, etc are wings IMO. There should almost be the designation of 3G. Calling them a forward does not reflect how they play the game by traditional standards.

So to get back to the debate...the teams that IMO have the best "trio" or combination of a lead guard, a 2G and a 3G/wing are (this is before possible NBA defections):

1a. Brunson, Booth & Hart
1b. Sumner, Davis and Bluett
3. Whitehead, Carrington & Dezi R.
4a. Watson, Thomas, Huff
4b. Campbell, Peak & Copeland

So I googled Marcus Foster to see how good this kid is and saw he got kicked out of K State. Does anyone know why?

He had a bad relationship with Bruce Weber. I'm sure his relationship with Mac is much better. All he needed was a fresh start somewhere else!

i'm not sure 'kicked out' is accurate

more like when you break up with your gf because you KNOW she's about to dump you

bruce weber is sort of a bitch that way - that relationship soured - and both parties bear responsibility for it - but one person is supposed to be an adult - and appears to have acted much more petulantly at the end
