Yeah, I just saw this on Twitter. Don't get this one at all. He would get major minutes at Providence next year.

Cooley really doesn't do a great job of retaining players. It's kinda odd.

That is simply wrong, he was going to lose minutes next year to Jackson who is a big time transfer from George Mason (he sat out this year). Junior is graduating and it's time for him to move on with his life. I'm happy for him and this 100% does not reflect on Cooley. He is not transferring to another school, he's moving on. Plus this opens up a ship for Top 100 wing player Alpha Diallo

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced on Wednesday, April 20 that Providence College guard Junior Lomomba (Montreal, Quebec) will forgo his final season of eligibility at the College to pursue other options after graduating in May.
“I want to thank my coaching staff and Providence College for allowing me to come in and perform on the basketball court as well as in my academics,” Lomomba said. “I also want to thank my teammates and all of our supporters. My three years at Providence College have been some of the best years of my life as I have seen myself grow into a man. I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships that go far beyond basketball. For those reasons I will forever be a Friar. However, as I’m graduating, I have decided to explore other opportunities that would benefit both my family and me. I am looking forward to facing new challenges in my future endeavors.”
Lomomba, who served as one of the team captains in 2015-16, started all 35 games this season. He averaged 5.3 points and 2.5 rebounds.
“We want to wish Junior all the best in his future plans,” Providence Head Coach Ed Cooley said. “Junior provided so much to the program over the last three seasons. His leadership and work ethic were integral to our team’s success. We appreciate all his contributions to Friar basketball.”

Agree, I would have liked to have him back for his leadership but he was likely looking at a reduction in minutes due to Jackson, as well as possible improvements from Edwards. If they land Alpha Diallo, that would have cut further into his minutes. He plays hard and can defend but is extremely limited offensively. Good kid.

There are definitely others on the roster I would have preferred to leave over him, but oh well.

Are we sure he isn't transferring? Wouldn't shock me if he did. If pro basketball somewhere isn't in his future he could get a chunk of a graduate degree for free.

PC Associate Head Coach, Andre LaFleur, reportedly moving to UNLV.

Guess Battle or Blaney will take over as Associate Head Coach.

I don't know much about who on the staff was doing what, but have seen many on the PC boards question what LaFleur was bringing to the table. Now, he lasted 10 years under Calhoun at UConn and 5 years at PC so he must have been doing something, right?

Wonder if Shammgod will take on a full time role?

Newest Friar. Believe he lived in NY until around 9th or 10 grade and then moved to Denver. Ranked #95 by ESPN.

Quadree Smith has decided to transfer out of Providence. This gives PC some flexibility to take a Kalif Young and still have room for Big Ben if he decides to come back.

Ben"s ship wasn't given away. Q leaving just makes room for Young.
