I agree it sucks for Xavier. Especially cause everyone is scared to play a game at cintas, so it'll be hard to schedule one for the muskies. But they should be fine. Just take care of OOC and have another great year in the big east and big picture, it won't matter

Xavier is likely a top ten team this year. I'm sure they'll get over it. Top ten teams have easier times scheduling quality games (if that's even what they want) than non top ten teams.

I think it sucks for Fox. All the players have their own agendas. Well, Fox's agenda is to broadcast games that a lot of people will want to watch. It's probably their preference that Xavier play another highly ranked team such as Michigan State. I wonder how many top ten OOC match ups Fox has ever aired. That's the perspective that I'm looking at it from. Even if Xavier does feel that they were screwed, they're still a top ten team. They'll get another game.

Does it really suck for xavier that they didn't get to host iowa or illinois or wisconsin this year?

Nah

I'm loving the gavitt games. The post with the breakdown of quality/dregs/middle pack is right on target. This was nevery intended to be a match of our top 8 versus their top 8 every year. Somebody has to play rutgers and Minnesota too.

It's funny you say that. Because it appears the conferences did agree to do worst vs worst, with DePaul/Rutgers and SJU/Minny. But the conferences didn't do best vs best. But it's not that big of a deal.

I'm excited for St. John's to go to Minnesota. Young team is going to get some very good experiences in Atlantis, and then experience playing true road games at the carrier dome and at the barn. Also last time we played Minnesota it was a very exhilarating win, and the one I look at as "THE game" sir Dom pointer put everything together, and the rest was history

people need to stop with saying Michigan St is at fault. They are playing in Hawaii, Champions Classic at MSG, and then Atlantis in the first 2 weeks of the season. That's not ducking anything. They were not available.

They will now though play 4 of the next 6 years.

I haven't seen anyone say it was Michigan State's fault. The teams don't have much of a say in who they're matched up with. I think everyone realizes that, and therefore no one is blaming Michigan State.

So who are the big ten's best that we should be playing?

Michigan state, sure, but that are committed and will be in the event 4 of the next 6 years

Who is next out of the big ten?
Its either Purdue or indiana, right? And purdue is playing nova

Wisconsin is involved with a road goame
Ohio state is involved
Iowa is involved
Maryland is involved with a road game

5 of the top 7 teams from the conference are involved.
What are you complaining about?

Are you asking me?

I'm not so much complaining as I am pointing out what a missed opportunity I think it is. If you have the choice between free Final Four tickets, and free tickets to Saint Joe's v Temple, and you choose the latter, I won't complain. I may look at you like your nuts and ask why the hell you picked those, but I won't complain.

In any given season, I'd say there are a total of five (if that) OOC games that match up two top ten teams. The Gavitt Games had the chance to create a game like that. But, they didn't, and the reason they didn't was because of what appears to be a logistical limitation that was entirely self created. They weren't available in those four days. So, rather than schedule the game at some other time, they just passed on it.

Yes, Michigan State will be in four out of the next six. No, it's not Michigan State's fault. Not only is it not their fault, I'd venture to say that Michigan State would have welcomed the opportunity to play on a different day. But, how many chances will this event have to create a top ten match up?? One a year IF you're lucky. My advice would be not to pass on it. But, since they did, I'm not "complaining." Just a little perplexed, that's all.

Was hoping for more FS1 games on Wednesday as the World Wide Leader normally has no games after the 24 marathon.
