Totally, totally missing the point.

If Xavier would have known about this 6 months ago, they would have been able to schedule a H-H series against a top opponent.

Xavier let the Big East know over 1 year ago about the scheduling issue and the Big East said it wouldn't be a problem - and in fact, that Xavier would host a game at Cintas against a Big 10 opponent.

Not until April did the Big East tell Xavier they were out. Already participating in a weak-ish Puerto Rico tourney and having an extra buy game this year... and now Xavier is left scrambling to try to find a Top 25 opponent. Mighty fine work, Big East.

Xavier was. They got screwed, because now last minute they have to find a worthwhile home opponent. Xavier's non-conference SOS is going to probably take a hit from this.

If Xavier had been told months ago that theven schedule didn't work out for them, it would have been fine.

FWIW, I hear UD has a posted on basketballtravelers.com looking for a high major opponent to begin a home and home series. Just sayin...

I think we've already got a few guarantee games lined up next year, but thanks for the offer.

I have a similar reaction when looking at St. John's record.

We only have Xavier's word on when they were notified. I'm sure the BE let them know there was a possibility they would not be included and Xavier just assumed they were in. I doubt the BE promised anything. It's pretty much a guarantee that whomever is playing in puerto rico isn't going to be a part of this challenge. This is just the AD passing the buck so season ticket holders don't get upset.

Every single time someone posts an explanation, you ignore it and continue with your same original ill informed line of thinking (which is a ridiculous opinion to approach a message board with during the off season or there would be zero discussion). Do you have intelligent thoughts about the situation? Do you think Xavier was lying about this because they were worried having a top 10 team was going to struggle selling tickets this year? Do you think it is easier getting a top seed when you have top 25 wins or without top 25 wins?

Nova had a couple really tough OOC games last season that they lost, but I'm sure they would argue that those games helped them overall come tourney time. But according to your logic, Nova should have been fine even without those games because of the Big East.
