Wisconsin doesn't want to go to Xavier for a payback game. Last season no good Big Ten teams would play Nova on our campus. And Sparty continues to take a rain check.

Starting to think this Big Ten is either a bunch of pussies, or they're giving us the high hat.

As long as Michigan St is playing in that champions classic with Kansas, Duke, and Kentucky, I wouldn't count on seeing them ever playing any top Big East teams. DePaul or St John's has a far greater shot of seeing them than Nova or Xavier does.

Well after being beat by us last season in these games, having the Big East win another national championship - it's first as a reconstituted group- while the Big 10 drought continues. Would you be anxious to play us?

I don't get the outrage. The schedule didn't line up because of your exempt tourny. The B1G is in no way beholden to your few open dates. You'll be in it next year hosting a team and probably be a better than average team seeing as how you missed this year.

The outrage is that it was communicated a year ago the dates we had open. We had 4 open slots and 6 Big 10 teams to fill one of those spots. It was communicated for the past year that Xavier would have a home game against a quality opponent. If Xavier wants to compete for a 1-2 seed in the NCAA tournament which they do, they need the right non conference schedule to do it and right now they don't as they were planning on a high caliber team coming to Cintas. Their 3 top non conference games are at Cincinnati, at Colorado, and possibly a neutral site game vs Oklahoma. Those will not be a top 25 rpi team Xavier needs in the non conference(and possibly the only top 25 rpi team in the Big East might be Nova). You won't get a 1-3 seed with only one top 25 rpi win. Xavier was already looking for 1 "Big game" and now they have to scramble for a second which isn't easy to do as Xavier will need a big game at home.

The problem is the open slots didn't mesh with the slots that the Gavitt games are supposed to take place. You can say the Big Ten isn't being flexible but that's not their job. The contract was for games Tuesday-Friday of opening week. Bottom line teams that play in Puerto Rico aren't going to be in the challenge. It shouldn't be any surprise to anyone.

SH game against Iowa should be advantage SHU, with or without Whitehead, and even on the road. Iowa loses virtually everyone - and not only everyone, but everyone who has been starters and/or significant players for the past two, three and even four years. All starters played more than 25 minutes per game on average and the only one back is Peter Jok - who is a decent spot up three point threat and shooter, but that's about it. They will be down significantly this year, IMO.

Exactly. I'm sure the intent was to have X host a game but the schedule didn't work out. Ce la vie! You'll get one next year. If you want a 1 or 2 seed then win the league. This isn't the A-10, you can get a 1 or 2 seed by winning the regular season title.
