Starting to think this Big Ten is either a bunch of pussies, or they're giving us the high hat.

I don't get the outrage. The schedule didn't line up because of your exempt tourny. The B1G is in no way beholden to your few open dates. You'll be in it next year hosting a team and probably be a better than average team seeing as how you missed this year.

The outrage is that it was communicated a year ago the dates we had open. We had 4 open slots and 6 Big 10 teams to fill one of those spots. It was communicated for the past year that Xavier would have a home game against a quality opponent. If Xavier wants to compete for a 1-2 seed in the NCAA tournament which they do, they need the right non conference schedule to do it and right now they don't as they were planning on a high caliber team coming to Cintas. Their 3 top non conference games are at Cincinnati, at Colorado, and possibly a neutral site game vs Oklahoma. Those will not be a top 20 rpi team Xavier needs in the non conference(and possibly the only top 20 rpi team in the Big East might be Nova). You won't get a 1-3 seed with only one top 20 rpi win. Xavier was already looking for 1 "Big game" and now they have to scramble for a second which isn't easy to do as Xavier will need a big game at home.

The problem is the open slots didn't mesh with the slots that the Gavitt games are supposed to take place. You can say the Big Ten isn't being flexible but that's not their job. The contract was for games Tuesday-Friday of opening week. Bottom line teams that play in Puerto Rico aren't going to be in the challenge. It shouldn't be any surprise to anyone.
