This championship should have a big old "*" next to it in the record books. Put this years Villanova team in the B1G, ACC, or Big 12 and they finish in the bottom half of the league. Those tournament wins against Miami, Oklahoma, Kansas, UNC... FLUKE. Mid-majors get hot in the tourney all the time, Villanova just stayed hot a little bit longer. Yeah, Nova has good culture, chemistry, and character, but no real talent. Talent is what carries true champions and Nova is lacking in that.

I hate having to talk about next year so soon...

Nova next year is going to be so interesting. First time in a decade Nova will only have 2 lead guards (Booth and Brunson) and they'll trot out a slew of guys 6'5"-6'9"guys. Cerebral, fundamental players (Arch, Ochefu) are going to be replaced with athletic freaks.

If Josh Hart stays (as a 2G), we will have some serious athleticism. It will be interesting to see if the Arch/Ochefu scrappy & smart play remains in the program, or if JW tries to just overwhelm teams physically. Either way this team will NOT look anything like a Villanova team from the past 10 years when they take the floor.

Agree with your comments. With Hart leaving along with Arch and Ochefu, it looks as though the Wildcats will take a step back (to normal and to the rest of the conference). They will still be quite good, but the new cast of characters in Paschal, DiVencenzo, & Spellman will have an adjustment spell. It may be mid to late January before they adjust to the speed and execution at this level. Nova may win the conference, again? However, no one will run away with the title next season.

Replacing Arch is difficult, but having a 5-star point guard in Brunson to play the lead guard role is about as good a situation as it gets to replace him. Ochefu was great, but a 5-star big man freshman is a great way to replace him.

Nova has gone 16-2 each of the last 3 seasons. I see little reason to think Nova will drop if Hart and Jenkins are back.

Gumby is right that next year's team is different. Instead of Hart playing significant minutes at the 4, he'll now play significant minutes at the 2.

I think next year's Villanova team could end up resembling those Buzz William's Marquette teams from a few years ago where it seemed like the entire roster was made up of long athletic guys between 6'4" and 6'8".
