Interesting.

Agreed, kind of. :P As programs to blindly add into a new conference you're right, but there's conference perspective that factors into the metaphor. If Georgetown and Villanova called up the A10, it would be slam dunk addition, but if those two called up the B1G, I guess it'd be a full court shot with time already expired.

As for the Big East additions, I think I'd say Butler and Xavier were uncontested layups, while Creighton might have been an off balance layup. Now the powers that be are going to decide which ten foot pull up they're going to take.

Personally, i think that analogy is perfect.

I could tick tack and argue footage but when it comes down to it all of these shots are high percentage, and what the Big East needs is a high percentage shot. Yeah Slams are nice, but sometimes slams miss, make you look stupid and lead to opponent points in transition. The BE is a solid conference no one will argue that, it doesn't need a hail mary, half court heave or a desperation three. It just needs a couple of nice solid teams to round out the conference. high percentage shots, not glamorous but have won more games than any other shot combined.

My oatmeal agrees with this message... Yorost will avoid the fishes this time...

The Big East is going to do what's best for the Big East and its members.

They're also going to do that when they think the time is right.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

I think SLU and Dayton aren't in now becasue the Big East didn't want to look like its crushing the A10. I have to believe that both schools are bigger gets than Creighton for example. It just was easier and less messy to add a MVC school rather than take 4 A10 schools at once.

I think you are totally off base. I don't think the Big East gave two craps about what they did to the A10. If they wanted to make sure they were the best "non football" conference hands down, they would have went ahead and decimated the A10.

Also, if they didn't want to crush the A10, they could have made two announcements, one for next year and one for the following year. The fact that we are one month away from the time where A10 teams would still have to pay the higher exit fee and there hasn't been any rumor of an announcement of two more teams should make it pretty clear that the Big East at this point and time is not ready to expand more.

 ...Creighton was the stronger addition and widely predicted as the 10th.

Ummmmm as far of being off base. I think the BE does want to be the best "non football conference" hands down, granted thats my opinion. (honestly i think you just mistyped your first paragraph unless you think that the BE's goal is to be the new Horizon)

As far as your other points we are more than a month away from July 1. (THE DEADLINE) Where the BE will have to make some sort of decisions known. There have been rumors, Seton Hall AD rumors- a few newspaper articles. (hence the starting point of this thread. I don't think you will get quite the same coverage now as you did before the NCAA tourney will all sports news resources were focused on college basketball so you just have to look a little harder for the rumors (like on the first page of this thread, its tough but its sacrifices we all must make.)
